Clickbait on IG Videos

I’m starting a raw-humor type of page on IG with adult-humor / college drunk kids type of videos and what not and I’m slowly trying to grow my account organically through follows, likes, commenting on popular competitor pages with funny material related to their content, etc. Our engagement is nearly non-existent since I haven’t posted that must since I’m just starting out, but I’m going to start posting videos, and am questioning if clickbait is the way to go. I made a very bright, vibrant image of a girl shouting, made her face bright red, put additional colors around it (the video is of a girl screaming, so it’s relatable)...do you think clickbait on videos is necessary to get views/interactions or is it corny cheesy and lame and I shouldn’t go down that path? Any insight or feedback is helpful! Thanks!

I think it can work well, a good caption and thumbnail to entise people to watch it. Some funny videos I've used aren't funny till the end of the video so try catch peoples attention quick

Thanks for the reply - so you think it’ll get more traction than just a regular thumbnail from the video?

Also, will people tend to steer away from my material if all I’m doing is clickbait (well actually not “clickbait” because the material behind the vibrant picture is still funny and worth a view)...I just don’t want to be the annoying over the top clickbait account that people don’t like to follow.

I think clickbait to a post is a bit different. With Facebook clickbait to articles it can be annoying. But on instagram all your really doing is encouraging your followers to check your content when its on their newsfeed. You can always try it for a week or so see and check your insights if your engagement improves

Clickbait is always annoying and screams "low quality content" to me so I end up skipping it. But, millions of people enjoy it (mostly kids) so based on this, go for it since what you describe looks to be targetted at teens.

YouTube is filled with successful clickbait videos.. Go for it.

It's fine as long as your content is quality and relevant to the preview.
