Hi everyone,
I have been doing some research on the Google anti-trust lawsuit from the US Department of Justice. I stumbled across this article that gives an interesting overview of some of internal slide-shows from Google. The article is from Nov 2023 and the Google presentations are for sure old (2014-2019) but what stood out to me was not only the integral role that clicks and user interactions played in ranking, but how desperately the company wanted to keep this aspect of search a secret. It specifically told employees to discuss it.

My question is whether any of you have started to play with clicks or CTR to raise search ranking? Or if there are any threads that have already explored this? Google says that it doesn't just take clicks on face value because they are hard to interpret, and relies on other signals from users as well, so I am curious to see the strategies people are experimenting with. With AI, the updates, and everything else going on, this is a dynamic environment and we have to be on top of it.
Thanks so much!
