When you're trying to create backlinks (Guest post or web 2.0)

Do you recommend using "Here" for anchor or using your target keywords?

Personally, I if you take the time to build the 2.0 I would not put a "click here" but a better anchor. It's just a matter of logic. Think on how "aggressive" is your anchor according to the page you are posting.

For example, if you say: I've seen this site which talks about digital marketing" in a forum or a comment post, where would you put the link? In "this site" or in "digital marketing"? Most noobs would put it in digital marketing because it favors exact match, but the truth is that the most natural place to place the link is "this site" because you are not explicitly referring to it so it feels more logical and less aggressive.

So, it's mostly situational. When linkbuilding, think overall all in naturality because linkbuilding itself is artificial enough to add extra layers of "artificiality".

Thank you for this

Web 2.0s yes but stronger links I would use brand, keyword, topic or mix. It's a waste on misc anchors.

Just don't be super aggressive with too many exact match and partial match keyword anchors.

Normally just domain.com would be the highest amount of anchors used.

I would have a good read up on it before committing to anything because it can fuck everything up if you get it badly wrong..

I vary this depending on niche to niche I am in, just analyze anchor profile of your top 3 competitors and keep the % according to that.

There is no one size fits all when it comes to seo.

Here's my formula...5% direct match keywords (e.g. product name review), and 95% generic (i.e. read more here, here, in this article etc).

Thank you all. I think it's good to just mix the anchor

IMO, I always use targeted keywords when linking to guest posts or other relevant quality sources. Generic keywords can be used for Web 2.0.

if your backlink is good and powerful then put your keyword there

Mixing up the misc anchors with target kws serves you good.
But, imo using the target keywords is suggested

I'll will mix both the Exact match & generic anchors to diversify the anchor profile.

A mix would be great, depending on the wording of the sentence. But I prefer this example, when pointing to a site like this: "...according to this site...", it's alright to include the backlink on "to this site". Alternatively, you can use the website name/brand itself like "..according to Brand X" or "according to [website name]". Personally, this looks better as compared to using exact match for linking.

It's good to mix up misc anchors and target keywords.
