I think PR confuses people so much because it is an indicator to Google what kind of authoritative sites link to your website. If you have a low PR is can be assumed that your website doesn't have any authority sites linking to you. However, that doesn't mean you can't rank for your targeted keywords

Ohhh thats why it is said that always submit your websites in high PR do follow directory submission sites....

Why you\re asking about build links ? Simple you can go and create infographics share to visually. And then you'll get referral backlinks from others. Then your brand website will increase awareness from customers. No worries about infographic creation.

Some years ago I think I paid more attention to the PageRank. Nowadays, it seems that there may have been one or more changes in the way I look at this link characteristic.

Keep your doubts here that would help all to clear it accordingly. loads of info are over here in BHW go through each sections and raise your doubts. only then you can know well about SEO.
 
You can very easily rank a PR 0 page over a PR 8 page with no backlinking necessary and just good on page SEO and some social signals. PR is so irrelevant these days and doesn't mean a thing.
 
On page optimization and backlinks of a certain keywords make the difference on SERP. Not PR.
 
Throwing some quality backlinks at your website (yes high Google PR or Moz PA) make a whole lot of difference in my experience.
 
Good explanation - Hope at least a few people ( who still believe that page Rank for UrL is everything) will be brought back down to world as a result
