Hmm thanks for the distinctions. Just trying to get to grips with the language and terminology in the SEO field to at least make it easier to hire a specialist, so all this helps!

Thanks for the posts, it is a good read and very informative, but left me confusing. All these days I thought PR and SERP are connected in one way or the other. :)

I think I should bookmark this post. It provides just the right explanation, as this (as you said) is a very confusing subject to many internet marketers.
 
This post will help new webmasters a lot. I also do agree that PR and SERP are not directly related (There are several PR3 niche sites having only about 1/3 of the SEO traffic that some PR1-PR2 sites from the same niche and keywords have...), BUT like it has been man mentioned above it is connected indirectly and both have there importance.

GreyWolf,The difference between PR and SERPs role in ranking has never been explained so well previously.Although both have their own relevance but PR of a website is never gonna Make it to help the rankings.Its just the reputation ones site gets.And the PR tells only the Home page PR which is totally different from the internal pages PR.All are different according to the backlinks the page is getting.
 
An interesting line of logic - I'll have to let it tumble around between my ears for a while and see how it sorts out. I thought that page rank (or site authority) as a whole affected the SERP position for each individual keyword, but...

Enough SEO philosophy for this morning - it's time to make money!!
 
Wow, good explanation of PR vs Serps. I always interested in the correation between the two.
