Clear malware from pc - little trick

So I got a free, 1 year trial of Loaris trojan remover. I didn't think it would do much, as I already have nod32 and standard windows defender. But I ran a scan and it found some (about 6) problem files.

My wife then shows me how her 2 year old laptop is super slow. She also has nod32 and WD, but nothing detected on either of them, nor malwarebytes.

I downloaded loaris and ran it. 11,000 files detected!!! Wtf?

So, I press delete, and it asked me for a key. Being tight, as @Meddie knows, I tried turning her laptop onto flight mode and entering my key. It worked, and I deleted all the shit from her laptop. It took about 15 minutes off the start up time, and it all runs well now.

So, if you know someone with loaris, download it, ask them for the key, flight mode on your pc, enter key, delete, done.

It doesn't remove it from the original machine, but as soon as you turn flight mode off, it will deactivate from the secondary.

Just a little tip that might help you.

Just checked. I used to have AutoIt error for weeks. I tried many programs but couldn't remove it.
This tool found it!

Also found 98 spyware/adware in Tencent's emulator :(

By the way I couldn't successfully remove files even after putting system in flight mode. How did you do that?
 
Tbh, this sounds super sketchy and probably not needed.

If a piece of software like this is finding 11,000 infected files, it's probably false positives or even a scam.

I would not trust it at all.

Anti virus in general is super sketchy and full of snake oil.

A few negatives review out of many about the software:
"SECURITY SCAM At best Loaris is poor software and detects false positives in driver files and genuine programs. At worst it is bordering on malware, detecting problems that aren't there and then demanding money to fix the problems. IT Totally trashed my computer!!!!"

"the software is a scam i paid for a year key it works fine a week later a new alert in my program say i cant use it and update my definitions till i updated to 2.0.40 version you install it then then you restart the program then itsays 0days remaining my valid keydoesnt work on 2.0.40 version iam now stuck with asoftware that cant update it virus sgnitures 40 pounds wasted for nothing on this scam ware that asking you to update to a new version and buy a key everytime you update it also there no option to block the forced update either"

It's a SCAM. Lead you to believe you have trojans/malware so you will purchase full system to remove them."

If you want to remove malwares, just use a trusted tool like Malwarebytes.
 
Don't go on trying out random programs for this. You'll regret it if you keep at it. Malwarebytes is the best in the industry. Don't open any random files, keep your AV updated, and use Malwarebytes if you're still scared.

Honestly, if this hadn't helped the laptop work so much better, I would agree with you. I did look for the files manually, and they were all there. (That is not to say that it didn't put them there if we want to be picky.)

Read that first review again. Did it ask for money or trash the computer? "Bordering on malware" or "trashed the computer?"

The second looks like an update problem that I didn't have, and haven't had.

Guys, I'm not saying that Loaris is a wonderful tool that everyone should use. I'm telling you that it fixed a laptop that was otherwise ruined. Use what you want, do what you want. It worked for me, I;m happy. Just offering a tip, not a rule.

Kinda ironic for the tool to detect all the trojans but it can't detect it's being cracked. Don't you think? :D
 
Looks like some false detections.. but I will try in on my 12 years old PC :P

Again, I would agree, but the speed difference it made, I don't think it was. Also, the files all had similar names:

\o949\[email protected]\browser blah blah blah Adware.FPL.Gen.vl

All of them were the same with different text in my "blah blah blah" bit

Malwarebytes found nothing, because there was nothing to be found. It might miss one or two infections, which can be picked up by other tools, but it definitely won't miss 11k of them. It's ridiculous. Anyone can write a program and show you any amount of fake positives.

If the machine became faster, that's probably because the tool did some good and cleaned the registry for instance, removed junk files or performed some disk defragmentation, none of these are features of malware removal tools, but the features of tools like CCleaner or Glary Utilities.

I posted 3 reviews randomly, here's more:
"It has major issues with false positives, so I recommend avoiding it. Even when it's free."

"Exactly, too many FPs.
Probably among all the false positives it can also detect malware, but this denotes a lack of reliability of the program.

Installed it on a brand new computer . It said the computer registry was infected and set up a warning on one item. So then your prompted to pay for the rest of the program (Loaris trojan remover) to clear up the false positive.

It's just a scam to prompt you to buy their product. It might work but I realy didn't need it."

...and the list goes on.

On a forum like BHW i don't think that it needs a lot of explaining how this bait tactic works.

I would steer clear.

Thats cool, it might be a piece of shit, but it did better than my "premium" eset and malwarebytes did for speed.

That's because it's not the task of those tools to speed up your machine. They are to protect your system from threats and they're good at it. Both of those tools are top of their class. It rarely happens that something slips through ESET, when it does, Malwarebytes is still there to catch it.
If a random malware scanner reports that it found 11k infections on a system, which is protected by ESET and scanned with Malwarebytes, one should scratch his/her head and at the very minimum question the accuracy of said tool. Even better, don't run unknown malware removal tools at all. My educated guess is that it performed some system optimization tasks, which speeded up the system, while showing false positives and pretending to remove infections.

If you wanted to speed up your machine, you could use well-known, trusted free or paid system optimization tools like CCleaner, Glary Utilities and Advanced SystemCare by IObit. These tools work without showing you false negatives and actually can speed your system up marginally.

If you do just one thing and defragment the HDD, that alone makes a huge speed improvement.

Thanks for your input. It is all very valid and great advice, but:

This thread was not intended for discussing which are good or bad. I was offering a tip that worked for me.
 
I always imagine tools like this detecting System32 as malware haha. Nice trick though.
