I do not "buy" it too.
I live in CA, I used an IP from a "known to be good" IP from an IP range that is residential.
I posted many test posts in many areas.
None of them were ghosted.
I think geo IP stuff is mainly got to do with flagging or maybe its just flagging all together...
Hmm, a thought.. ( I will come back to this )
Anyways, I have talked to some of the big boys in the CL game, they say that if you post with a non local IP that your AD can get flagged with just one or two clicks...
Ghosting is a result of over posting using one IP, or editing your AD before it goes live, or a soft blocked IP address or using a range of IP addresses that are non residential - used by spammers, or a link that is soft blocked ... Heck they may even do it for images but that is not known for sure, well at least I have not tested that one out. The others are tested and proven.
hhmm, back to thinking about the flagging thing.. I have tried CL Flagger, I have done my own stuff, with no luck.....I have tried proxy servers, many different types and I think they have a way of detecting proxy servers or maybe they give surfing points.. "Surfing points" is if the IP has visited other pages on CL, or other ADs and not flagged them and then comes accrosss an AD that is SPAM and flaggs, then its a more powerful flag.
If the IP has only done one thing, flag, then it has no surfing points... And the flag is ignored.
Thats the way I would do it if I were them.
That way only real people could flag.
They could not do that for posting, because some people only come to post, and do not look around too much, if at all.
