So I believe I've read everything in their ToS, etc. about how I can drive traffic, but I don't think I saw anything about whether or not you can use something like a traffic exchange. I use TrafficSwarm for various things I'm working on, and I do get regular hits with it, but it would be strictly to my CJ advertiser affiliate link and not through a banner or text ad with CJ's and the advertisers code, though there is still some of the advertisers code in the affiliate link.

I'm assuming this is not a good idea, but I wanted to make sure first. I also take it it would be best to send said traffic to a page that had the banner/text ad on it, and make them click again?

    Here's the deal:

Assuming that you want to fly under the radar, you'll want to make your traffic look as "real" as possible. Normally a site will have a ton of impressions (banner views) then a few of those will click through, then some of those clicks will convert. If your traffic swarm traffic is hitting the affiliate link directly, this counts as a click. If you're running a banner creative and you have a ton of clicks and very few impressions, this may or may not look suspicious. That really depends on the merchant representative and what he's looking for and how competent he is.

If you're running a text link creative, then they won't be expecting impressions anyway, just clicks. However in this case, when they look at the referrer it will still presumably show trafficstorm, which again may or may not look suspicious.

Basically, the result of all of this is dependent upon the merchant's rep at the other end of the CJ deal. Some of them are completely incompetent. A couple of years back I threw some incentive traffic at an offer and did 12k over the course of 6 months before the guy realized the leads weren't backing out and he decided to close the relationship on cj. He still paid all the commissions though, even after he closed our relationship. This can easily work the other way though, CJ is just a middle man and the merchant can reverse your commissions for any reason or for no reason whatsoever.

In summary, if you're running a banner creative you'll want a ton of impressions, a few clicks, with some of those clicks turning in to leads. You do NOT want 100 impressions, 2000 clicks, and 1500 leads.

Yeah, that's basically what I thought, but wanted to make sure. I've pulled it from TrafficSwarm and will just settle with running the banners on various sites. Thanks for the in-depth. I appreciate it. Thanked and +rep. ;)

i think it's a waste if TrafficSwarm converts well.. Maybe you can try using a double meta refresh method to blank out your referrer :) (not sure whether TrafficSwarm allows that)
I believed the code/script can be found in the forum or you may want to get the dmr service provided by Gen in the BST section.

That won't work, because TrafficSwarm examines your webpage before approving a campaign to run and its againsts their T.O.S to have a redirect/refresh of the page.

You might be able to edit the page afterwards though after it has run for a little bit on trafficswarm. But it will probably be easily tagged and blocked.

dunno, but CJ is pretty erratic in their ways lately... If i had to bet. i'll say that trafficswarm traffic won't fit well with people at CJ. As far as i know, traffic exchanges are pretty much looked down upon by almost all networks, no matter whether they have it in their tos or not.. And these ppl can ban ur account without warning or explanation.. booooo
