Chrome might soon block some adblockers,js blockers etc. from functioning properly

You may have read the update Chrome is working on that effects one of the APIs that many ad blockers use, but also malicious extensions (ad block, js blockers etc)

Why relevant? Well some people may still have issues getting around adblock so just a heads up if this pans out the way we'd like for us you may have some time to make extra $$$. We shall see how it all works out in the end, but some extension developers likely won't get this resolved right away so a potential chance for you

This is great news for adsense publishers like myself!

Do not underestimate the power of the ublock community

This might sound good for webmasters at first hearing, but the thing is that mobile traffic long surpassed desktop. In most niches mobile vs. desktop traffic rate is 2/3rd to 1/3rd or not rarely more like 3/4 to 1/4 by now.



Why is this important? Addons cannot be used with Chrome on mobile, the API change won't have any effect there obviously.

Chrome has a 70% market share on desktop.



40% of the users use some kind of ad blocker on desktop.

In summary: 30% of the traffic is desktop, 40% of this use ad blockers, 60-70% use Chrome (depending on stats source). What does all this mean? This opportunity will be able to affect maybe 10% of the traffic or even less in some niches. (Stats are mostly true for the US).

And if you read the article, the biggest ad blocker, Adblock is not even mentioned among the effected ad blocker addons, just uBlock and Ghostery.
