Christopher Nolan - Inception

Holy Christmas Batman,

So I just saw the new trailer for Christopher Nolan's new film Inception with Leo Dicaprio and nearly pooped my pants.

I've always been a huge fan of Chris Nolan since I saw the movie Memento years ago. And then I heard he was directing the new batman movies and everyone said I was an idiot for thinking they'd be any good....and look where we are now

I'd say he's probably one of the top 5 best directors still alive and working today.

I'd say (in no particular order because it's almost impossible to order):

1. Christopher Nolan
2. Martin Scorsese
3. Clint Eastwood
4. Quentin Tarantino
5. ????

Maybe Tarantino belongs on that list and maybe he doesn't..but Inglorious was damn good for sure.

And I'd put Spielberg on that list because of all his classics, but that guy seriously makes too many HORRIBLE crappy movies with aliens in them. I mean he's got a fuckin fetish for Aliens. Look at that new indiana jones movie...what a horrible piece of shit. And then there's war of the Worlds...

hopefully his new project with JJ Abrams won't totally suck.

Actually... Abrams might make that list some day. He's getting quite a lot of recognition in the nerdy-cult of society for films and crap like LOST. He knows his stuff.

But back to Chris Nolan....oh yeah...wicked good stuff.

Your thoughts? top 5?

Yeah, Christopher Nolan's work is great. Inception looks awesome. Your list is pretty good, although I'm not a huge fan of 2, 3, or 4. They have each made films that I like, but not everything they've made appeals to me. As for #5, I would add Ridley Scott (but he should really be closer to the top).

U sure you're not down with 2-4? I mean at the very least martin scorsese man...holy crap he has a good track record.

Maybe James Cameron can go on this list too. He's got a solid career of innovation, awards, and HUGE amounts of ticket sales.

I like Eastwood better as an actor than a director. Both Scorsese and Tarantino are hit-or-miss with me, and I don't care for Cameron much. True, he's had a few blockbusters, but his stuff just doesn't do it for me. I was dragged along to see Titanic, and I had no interest in Avatar whatsoever.

Of your directors, here are the films that I like:

- Mean Streets

Tarantino
- Pulp Fiction
- Reservoir Dogs

I can't say that I've seen every movie by each of these directors, but I've turned down opportunities to do so because they didn't sound appealing.

Avatar was good for what it's worth. REALLY FREAKING GOOD effects obviously. but nothing too spectacular or original.

I never saw Titanic, and I dont think I ever will.

For Eastwood maybe watch Mystic River. The thing about Eastwood's films is that they are ALL INCREDIBLY DEPRESSING lol. but still good.

And for Tarantino I'd give Inglorious Basterds a shot, if you don't mind long movies that are more serious with a lot of dialogue.
