While some domains flip rapidly, others remain inactive for months. Though trends can shift quickly, short, distinctive names appear to perform well in active markets. What standards do seasoned individuals apply when determining if a domain is worthwhile to register or keep for future sale? Do you find that some extensions or niches regularly yield greater results?

That makes sense, it would seem wiser to concentrate on brandability rather than following every passing fad. Is it mostly about the name's memorability and adaptability, or do you also give preference to specific extensions?

You've said it all: 'short, distinctive names appear to perform well in active markets'. I'd stick to domains with evergreen keywords rather than trends. If you want to chase trending names, just get in early while the hype is still hot. Asides from the length, I also consider the number syllables and the domain must absolutely pass the radio test. Many of the big domain sales investors brag about on X are usually country code TLDs too.
