Chitika W8BEN

Hello everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the right forum but I have a question about the Chitika w8Ben

I don't live in the US and don't have anybody working there for me.

I usually check off no US activities because that seems like the one that applies.

Now Chitika is forcing me to do the W9 or W8BEN. Not even AdSense has asked for this, yet Chitika is saying they are requesting all their publishers are required to fill out the W8BEN or W9. Yet they do not have the Certification of No US Activities, which is the one that almost all networks have for people that do not live in the US and don't employ anyone in the US.

Can Chitika ask for this without giving the option for Certification of No US Activities?

If you dont fill W8BEN they will take 30% of your earnings. They need that to prove IRS that you are not US citizen.

Just to clarify, Chitika does not take any percentage if you do not provide your tax forms. Payments are put on hold until forms are submitted.

Hi Amanda, I appreciate taking your time to answer on this thread. Im not Chitika publisher. Info I posted is based on my experience with affiliate networks I work/wokerd with.

Also withholding of 30% for not submitting W8BEN is mentioned by IRS:

These publishers simply apply a banner to there web/blogsite and when someone signs up to become a Chitika Publisher, they receive 10% of the revenue that the referral earns for 10 months. It requires no work on your behalf, except for putting the banner on your site. Let me know if you are interested in becoming a referrer and I will help in any way I can

officialgt- Welcome!! The amount of revenue generated varies on several factors including the quality of traffic clicking on the ads and the quality of advertisement being clicked on. CPC can range anywhere from $0.02 to some dollar amount.
