Did anyone hear about this story on the news?

You could make a ton of money by monitizing on this. Think about it.

I could not find anything posted here about it but i did see the news story here in AU.

China has been censoring the internet for a few years now. I don't think they are banned from the internet though, they are just controlling what their people can see.
 
Hmm strange because the news story i saw here people were unable to log into the Internet from their laptops. Maybe they made a bigger news story out of it here than was necessary but the impression i got was that everyone was having a hell of a time getting online.
 
As time goes by even the chinese realise it's impossible to blacklist all the "evil sites".
Thus, they now go the other way round: with whitelisting they're goin to build a chinese intranet.

I'm not sure where you got your news from, but I checked all the news sources and there's nothing about China banning the internet or even people having login problems.

China has been censoring the internet for years.

Nothing new.

This should be in the Lounge.
 
Heh , regarding those stupid fucks , there were like 5k people arrested in china last year becouse internet porn :P what the fuck thay think internet is for ?
 
Yeah, they've been doing this for a while.

Google caught a lot of flack for censoring everything the government wanted from their search for IP addresses from China.

They don't want people organizing and overthrowing the government so they keep all anti-political stuff and non-chinese news stories about china out of the heads of their people.

You can get arrested for going to the wrong websites, and get arrested for what you say about the government on the internet.

Basically, it's how the US will be in 10 years.

guys china isn't blocking anything from its people. that's stupid. they're just lagging.

Guys, what you should be thinking is: "How can I monetize this?". By selling 7$ report on Clickbank which learns you to use proxies, your freedom, etc and put a disclaimer that says it might not work there?... bbl, gotta write! (is paypal blocked in china?)

They might as well have shut it down, even google is blocked, you cant do shit. I went to china like 5 years ago and it was way better than now internet wise, now it just sucks. Not only is it fucked up on the human rights front, but they are also shitting on their own economy.
 
Damn if China bans the internet...How the hell will they continue to sell us products like poisonous tooth paste and toxic toys...and the ever famous deadly dog chow. Damn come to think about it...maybe this ain't so bad after all.
 
I would not be surprised...I had heard that Obama has threated to shut our internet down...Dont know if he has the guts to do it or not...
 
Chinese government is being very strict on p2p download site lately, they shut down a few sites, but that's it. Though many sites like Fackbook twitter youtube were banned long time ago..

Billions of Chinese use internet everyday, the government would not dare to shut down the entire network.

It's so funny to see people would even believe in this type of news.
 
Its really hard to separate internet from china...as a large amount of internet has been shared by china only...and all the new technologies and software's are being developed in china only for major companies around the world!!! :)
