I just created a new website for a niche, and i'd like to check the guys the are on the first page for this niche how many high PR backlinks they have, is there such a tool ?

Also, If the #1 spot on G has like 9 different links to various PR 5 websites, and i have 15 different links for PR4 websites, will this mean that i will be ahead of him ?

SeoSpyglass is free to use, you just can't save your projects.

As for your second question, due to the nature of all known knowledge regarding SEO, i doubt anyone will be able to answer exactly.

Get Market Samurai and use the SEO Competition module. It will show you the important details (including backlinks sorted by PR and anchor texts) about your competitors. You can get this tool in the download section. :)

It depends on many factors besides PR and number of links.

Time is the hardest factor to get your head around.
How long have they had those backlinks compared to yours? How old is their domain?

The quality of the page that links appear on also is more than PR.
Are there a lot of outbound links? Is there plenty of text around the link?

A PR7 that is spammed to death can be much less valuable than a clean PR2.

Asses your competition and outdo them in quality. Works for me.

Backlink relevance is the key if you wanna rank high for any term

I think SEOQuake Plugin is the best option than others, It shows all the details of PR, inlinks of google and yahoo. . So it's really good to analyze someone's website.

IBP is also good for your website to analyze your on-site-optimization. So try that as well if you wish. .

Thanks

This. Don't get caught up in PR, look at the whole picture for backlinks.

I'll throw another vote for SEOQuake. It's a must have for quick, easy and cheap (free) competitive analysis.
