1. With a twinkle in his eye, the mailman handed me a ______________.

a. check
b. cheque
c. restraining order.

Whoever picked B better be from another country or wear a polo shirt, visor and cargo shorts...

In American english, you use check.
In British english, you use cheque.

Since I've took British English, I'll stick to cheque. I feel kinda weird when I type check...

Another country?
Does this word or forum or whatever have a main country?
Hmmm I'm starting to like cheque.

UK English

Credit Check - Correct

Credit Cheque - Wrong

The mail man handed me a cheque - Correct

However you can use both but cheque is the correct way, am a bit tired but I think i got this right.

In America Nobody uses Cheque, Its not even in the American dictionary LOL... Even tho it does sound sexier.

Check: to clarify something!
Cheque: a form of currency!

At least that's what they taught me when I went to school! :)

Cheque.. infact I never knew (1 year ago) that ppl use CHECK for CHEQUE.. :tape:

Clearly the correct spelling is is cheque. The fact that our ex-colonial brothers across the water have bastardised the spelling carries no weight with me matey, if you're going to speak English then you should speak it and indeed spell it correctly.

Now, repeat after me, "The rain in Spain......."
