Hello

I just bought a new domain that didn't come with cpanel and DNS editing. Just wondering where I can find the cheapest plan in order to sign up G Suite?

The domain is not going to host any website, just for email only :)

Cheers everyone

Domains do not come with hosting. They do come with DNS management.

Your query regarding G suite is not clear.

G suite itself has plan.

You just need to sign up.

I also thought the domain comes with DNS management. However, I talked to the support team of the hosting company about what else I need to sign up G Suite. And this is how they replied.

In order to be able to use G Suite, you will need to have a cPanel because they will require you to fix a certain DNS record, that can only be placed in a cPanel.
As far as I can see you have bought a domain name only. They don't come with a cPanel account; you need to purchase a hosting package in order to have a cPanel account.

That's why I am trying to look for the cheapest hosting plan to get access to cPanel and DNS record :)

You bought a domain in a shitty place. they don't allow you to manage your DNS, it's really bad.
Transfer it to another place, I generally use NameCheap.
You don't need any hosting plan, just DNS management.

Any charge to transfer the domain to other company?

your query not making much sense - there are cheap providers - like ipage (unlimited emails ./ 500 mb) - Digital Ocean - rating based on droplets etc...

Sorry I know the title and my query look confusing. First time I bought a domain myself and all the terms like DNS are new to me :p

If you've already registered (purchased) your domain name, then all you need to do is sign up for G Suite.

Google will tell you to update your domain's MX Records.

You should be able to manage your domain's DNS where you registered the domain, assuming your domain's nameservers are pointing to that registrar's nameservers. Remember, your DNS is managed wherever your nameservers are pointing.

Once your MX Records have been updated G Suite should work without any issues.

Where did you buy your domain?

Why do you want to sign up for G-suite? Is it for hosting?

If you are looking for hosting, there are better hosting provider.

1) Sign up for cloudflare
2) Change your domain's NS records to point to the name servers given by cloudflare. If you don't know how to do that then contact registrar support & tell them you need to change your NS records. They have to let you do this.
3) Sign up for G Suite
4) Set your MX records on Cloudflare per the instructions from Google

Done.

I was given free access to the client portal once I bought the domain. That portal allows me to change the nameserver. However, other DNS records like A, MX, TXT, CNAME etc. cannot be edited as they are on cPanel which doesn't come with the domain.....unless you also bought their hosting package.

The customer service said it may come free of charge on some other hosting companies, but he's not aware of that.

Stablehost

I want to sign up G Suite just for emailing. Don't plan to use the domain for hosting website.

Thanks! I will give it a go. Is it free to sign up cloudfare? Also, I heard that I am not allowed to transfer domain to another company in the first 60 days. Does it apply to cloudfare too (unless it's not related to domain transfer here).

Cloudflare is free.

You aren't transferring the domain (which is where the 60 days comes in) - they are still the registrar & you pay them for renewals. You're just changing the name servers responsible for the domain.

I'm sorry but isn't DNS included regardless of the name provider used? You don't need hosting for G-Suite, just DNS. Even if you really don't have DNS access (I find really hard to believe) Submit a change request for the DNS entries to be put in for G-Suite domain validation.

Initially I only bought a domain without hosting plan. From the customer portal, the only setting I can change is nameserver. The rest of DNS settings, e.g. A, TXT records etc., can only be given access after I sign up their hosting plan, which came as a surprise given their domain sales page emphasizes free access to DNS setting as long as you purchase the domain.........
