Cheapest Domain and hosting

Get the domain from Godaddyy but do not use the hosting! Its crap. If you use Wordpress go with something like Bluehost. Or use DigitalOcean with serverpilot free. The later would be the best option if you have patience and a little time to learn. Plus, you can turn to me at any time if you have questions :)

Thanks bro. I went for Fastcomet shared hosting with free domain. Loading times could be better, but it's good for the price i paid, seems to be better than most other shared hosting companies.

Website loading is about 2 seconds. Hoping that i can get the time down a bit by stripping down some unnessary components on the website. How much damage would a loading time like this do to my website?
 
If you want cheap domains, stay away from the main TLDs such as .com and .net. You can get .pro, .info and .me domains for few bucks on websites like Namesilo and Namecheap.

I'm a noob, but i thought .com domains in most cases would be a huge advantage compared to others (SEO)?

Its a great website loading time! Do not worry yourself too much with shaving 0.01 sec. Instead, focus on good content and marketing. What platform is your website based on?

Good to hear! I believe i got a good deal, 2.95$ per month for unlimited bandwith + domain included.

Website is set up on Wordpress.

Good to know! I have read time after time that .com was a would be a must for the best ranking, guess they were wrong (or the algorithm has changed).

Years ago that was the norm, and .com domains were Google's favorites. The situation is different now especially that so many specific TLDs have been added

I made a noobish mistake. I timed myself ... :rolleyes:

4.3s is the real loading time (421KB) according to Gtmetrix. Not good at all.

Pagespeed score: A (96%)
YSlow Score: D (66%)

Dude, still good for the beginning time. Are you using Wordpress or Joomla by any chance? If so I can help troubleshoot by doing some quick points here in the thread with you so it speeds up
 
My suggestion is to buy domain from different domain registrar so that you can move hosting of your site whenever you want.
 
I've used a few of the ones listed here GoDaddy, 1on1, Namecheap.
Namecheap has been the best for me so far. Good luck ot you.
 
I would definitely avoid Godaddy, and go instead with Namecheap for instance.

I'm using wordpress. So far i have added some addons to speed up the site, downsize pictures etc, as well as i'm currently setting up Cloudflare.

Nice moves. Are you using your server config to redirect from http to https? Did you enable gzip compression?
 
Slu Hosting is a dollar a month. Not the best, but it's only a dollar.
