Where can I pick up some cheap domain names.....99 cents per .info preferably but willing to go higher.

the best place ive found for cheap domains is domaincentral - us.domaincentral.com from the us. .com registration for an even $5 bucks and that includes WHOIS privacy for free.
anyone else use domaincentral? wondering why their service is so cheap... hope all of my domains dont poof one day.

It depends how reliable you want the registrar to be. Godaddy has .info domains for $1.99 (that's the cheapest I have found lately) but I have heard too many horror stories about them. I have witnessed first hand a domain name that was available one minute then taken when I tried to register it at Godaddy. Also if you register less than 5 domains you have to pay extra for privacy protection.
I would recommend Name.com they have free whois privacy and their .info domains are $2.99. Their .com domains are only $5.99 and .net are $5.89.

I've seen the $2.99 .info but am looking for something even cheaper if available as these are throw away domains.
I've got domains at quite a few registrars, but godaddy is the only one that I seem to have challenges with. I registered 10 with them about a month ago, everything was going great until one day all my sites were down and I had an email from godaddy advising they cancelled all the domains because they felt the whois was incorrect. Money was refunded so no point challenging them on it, but they seem to be a tough registrar.

Did you try to register the names somewhere else or did GoDaddy keep the names?
I've never heard of that before. I have about 60 names with them, I'll have to check my whois and maybe even transfer them to somewhere else. I have a couple of names at namecheap also.
I've never had a problem with GD, but I seem to hear more and more bad things about them. Most cases I hear are also Guilty and not given a chance to prove innocent.

The Whois was not correct. Rather then getting private whois, I really consider these to be throw away domains, with no plans of renewal.
So I register the domains and the whois is not correct. With other registrars, never a problem.
Godaddy is different. After losing the domains this time (money refunded), I did a google search and found that if the city/country in whois does not match the city/country for the incoming IP, it does raise a flag.

That reminds me of a whois story I had with GD.
I bought a domain name of of somebody. Went through the whole transfer process. I gave the seller all my info, but he didn't enter it into the transfer request.
The next year when the domain name came up for renewal they were sending him the renewal notices, even though it was in my account and domain manager. He emailed me and told me what was happening. I updated it and renewed it.
Strange GD never caught it.

DO NOT use BlowDaddy! You could use NetFirms; they're $5.95 for the first year and they give you free domain privacy. I have over 30 domains regged with them.

i use hosting dude, never had any problems with them i think its $1.99 for a .info to me thats 99 pence
Surely you can get around the dodaddy cancellation problem by supplying them with correct whois info and buying 5 .info domains at a time and availing of the free domainsbyproxy service. It doesn't matter that you've supplied correct whois data as your details will be concealed, and with correct whois data, godaddy isn't going to drop your domains. $1.99 for a .info and free provacy with 5 domains.

I use 1&1.com and have had good luck
At godaddy click on domains and then bulk register. You can put up to 500 keywords in the box and they will check which ones are available. I use this to find long tail keyword domains.
