Noob here, and I want to be a good contributor. I just found this forum. I'm excited to contribute and learn.
Background. I consider myself a level 5 PPC expert on a 1 to 10 scale. It is not my full-time job and I use it for my business only. The point being I don't want to portray that I am an SME in PPC.
I wanted to find geo-specific words from search terms in a PPC campaign. Why? When we get a phone call conversion, they usually assume we are in their area because they used a geo-specific term in their search, and we showed up on the SERP. When they find out, we are not in their area, ie, "near me" they get upset. Not only did we damage the brand, but we also just wasted a click.
You could use this process for multiple purposes.
Google Ads
Choose the Campaign
Insights & reports
Search terms
Export list of search terms from all ad groups in the Campaign (assuming the campaign has run for at least 14 days to collect data)
Open the list in Google Sheets or Excel
Copy list of search terms
Start New chat
Prompt - Find words in this list referencing any location like a city, state or county. List only location words in alpha order.
ChatGPT returned these from a list of 135 search terms.

austin
burbank
california
cambridge
dallas
denver
indianapolis
los angeles
midlothian
new york (ny)
plano
seattle
toledo
texas
I still manually scan the search term list for words it did not find.
Clean them up and add them to the campaign as exact-match negative keywords. This saves me a lot of time and budget. I repeat this process once a week because geo-specific searches are continuous.
