ChatGPT is like any other tool used to make human work more efficient, the issue was over hiring during the 2021 lockdown. Unfortunately, we are all products of instant gratification, and the big bosses who wanted that dopamine rush could have actually waited and increased the bottom line before going on expansion mode.

ikr but it does replace all that entry level we use 3rd world country workers for.

I don't believe any developer job is at risk, I believe that will raise the bar for hiring and make arder or asked for even more background for problem solving but not to make to loose your job as a developer because if you want to make a progrmam you must have some knowledge in how should it work, but what happen if you need to do maintenance and there is no documentation no engenier to fix it, if you do not know what is not working how do you ask the AI to fix that problem, could be the database, could be a variable that has a int value but you need it to be float how a simple person will know where to search? in order to lose your job as a developer the AI should manage and do everything by it self as long as is controled by humans the limitation is the knowledge of the person using the AI.
