What's your take on the latest ai chatbot known as chatGPT?

Spoiler: The title was generated from ChatGPT

Necessary Step in Evolution for sure. This is really just the beginning of what's to come with AI.

It is not a big deal, it is controlled
Do you think so? it uses machine learning, meaning it learns and improves its performance without being explicitly programmed to do so.

Its scary! I am programmer and let me tell you its way to impressive and scary at the same time. Once you cant recognize the difference between human and machine you will have chaos. At least at first. Chaos are opportunity as well but let be hunest. We human have never really used new opportunity in a good way;)

People are overreacting. It's just like using google and stackoverflow, but you can get the answers a lot faster. However, you can also get them a lot less accurate, since it fails pretty frequently. It's a cool tool to have at your disposal. It's not something that's gonna replace you(for now). It's very hit and miss. The other day it was giving me code that simply does not exist. In fact, it can create you problems instead of solving them. And plenty of times it has completely failed to solve the problems that i was having, while on Reddit i got the answer in 10 min. It needs to be guided by someone who knows what they're doing. It's not something a clueless individual will use to create anything meaningful.

For now yes.... I agree... But next 10 years expect it to be massively improved. Don't forget that the version that we get to play with ain't the same as what "they" have. Use case for us now are limited to couple of text and images and some crappy codes... But it will take over everything soon or later

No. The problems chatGPT and other Large Language Models (LLMs) have is fundamental to the way they work and they won't go away until we figure out Artificial General Intelligence.
And that's not happening in the next 50 years (heck we can't even say for sure if it will ever happen).

LLMs produce what we in the ml community call "synthetic text". These things are called "stochastic parrots". They don't (and can't) have any clue on what they are writing and that brings problems.

The problems are not an existential threat to humanity because this is not AGI. It can't even solve trivial problems, it can only regurgitate things it has already seen. Ask it if 61 is a prime (it is) and sometimes it will say you that 2,3 and 61 are factors of 61!1673001521235.jpeg
It can't even do basic math. That is one of the problems of LLMs, they don't have an comprehension abilities.

I am more scared about people creating propaganda and conspiracy theories at scale with it which can cause mass panic, hysteria and even war (all which lead to a lot of deaths)
than i am scared of it causing any direct harm. The only jobs it's taking away right now are the lowest of the copywriters and content writers from freelance platforms.

In the short term I think it has improved human efficiency.
What if it brings bad effects?
From the point of view of society, since this has increased the efficiency of everyone and reduced the existence of information differences, this has also increased the competition between humans, or the gap between the rich and the poor is getting bigger and harder to make money.

Do not mind the extra hype. It will be normal in some time.

The future looks bright but at the same time it’s unpredictable. I am sure that AI will bring amazing innovation and solve many world problems but let’s not forget that everything changes depending on the user. Someone uses a knife to spread butter on bread and someone else to injure someone.

For now today as we speak it ok but 10 years as it learn more maybe very scary
Can already write code full code .

As the ai database grows over 10 years then it scary

It will 100% be used for research as it grows from professionals.

Will definitely beat google algo
