Humans would always be superior to AI. Afterall what artificial intelligence aims to do is to dump some human intelligence onto computers and make them carry out tasks faster than we could ever.
The major thing AI has over humans is speed. It's the difference. And the gap is very wide.

Yeah but the fatal flaw of AI modeled on human intelligence, is that the average human is sporting an IQ in the range of 80. Metal retardation is considered when IQ is below 65, and high intelligence would be north of 120. So yeah, most humans being merely 15 points away from retarded is going to hinder AI.

Intelligence is basically the ability to learn something fast and apply the same thing fast. It doesn't matter what the intelligence of the average person is, what matters is the fact that we know exactly what we want from AI.
It would be tweaked to be able to do those things and do them at a ridiculously fast speed. Faster than any human could irrespective of their intelligence.

To what end? You can already receive information faster than you can process it. Why do you think it is a benefit to have "more information faster". And despite the ease at which information is available, people are dumber than ever.
Intelligence is the ability to think, to recognize patterns, and to make "connections" between various things - abstract and/or tangible. It's not just about speed, it is about the capacity to notice things. The average 80 IQ mouth-breather, for example, can use a 'smart' phone, but that same person cannot tell you even the most simplest explanation of how it works. It may as well be a 'magic candy bar' as far as they are concerned.
Likewise, an intelligent person knows that this "AI" meme is just a clever ruse, where "big data" is extensively collated by scores and presented to people in a slightly different way, and that what most people are claiming is AI is actually just search engine that provides custom results based upon the query, rather than a list of items that just contain keywords.
