ChatGPT didn't kill SEO, it killed TEXT

I have come to the conclusion that AI definitely killed text as a content format. Even this forum since it is heavily text based, has been affected by this.

I can't remember the last time I read a blog post, since I always search on GPT but at the same time, I watch reels and images on Insta daily.

It just really shows where the damage has been done: text content. And since Google relied heavily on text for blogs, that's why people are saying SEO is dead.

We better accept it, and start moving to the video content, at least people watch them.

I'm not 100% sure that text is dead, would say low-value text is, bc with Ai you don't have to dig through 5 or more SEO blogs just to find useful information.

Bur long-form texts still matters bc of deep thinking, original opinion, documentation, researches and storytelling.

Well, video is next to follow, already AI is doing quite decent job at videos. Considering the pace it's moving it will probably do it as easily and without much user input as it does with text now in a very short while.

People now use AI to provide more depth in content, that's why it makes no sense to read a blog versus going to AI. A blog post will give you an angle, with AI, you can ask several questions from several angels, until you come to a conclusion, A blog post will never give you that experience.

Yes, there are video content with AI, but when we scroll reels, we are searching for human content, at least I do that. So, as a user, I am going to reels for that content and Insta is my source.

But for text, my only source is AI.

And it makes a lot of sense because AI provides the content in text, you can't compete with that.

I will never go to an AI website for videos, that will never happen, but for text , yes.

What if you can't tell if the video is AI or human made? What then?
In my opinion this won't happen.

Just like with the text, everyone can spot the difference immediately if the text is AI generated, same will be for videos, they follow a structure, nothing creative.

If AI would be so creative, we would have so many discoveries at this point, yet nothing happens, because AI just mixes what's already out there.

But what is "out there" belongs to AI now, not to blogs anymore. This is my point.

once you start working with astroturfing, self promotion, etc, you realize that those reels and short videos are often biased as hell, just a bunch of people trying to promote their affiliate link or partnering with a brand to promote them

I don't trust anything related to ''organic'' reviews on social media anymore, especially because I myself create biased ''authentic and organic'' reviews/comments

AI is not just for text... videos and images are created by chatgpt as well... a lot of them.

What??? No...

Text shall never die.

You're saying,
"Cant remember the last time I read a blog post" (Your Words)
Just because you prefer a reel or video, do you think millions of people have abandoned (or will abandon) text for work, education or research?

Cognitive bias?

If BHW was overrun with videos and reels I would've left already.

And if text were dead, AI-managed platforms would have nothing to crawl or learn from or synthesize.

Yes, engagement styles would change for each generation...

BUT...!!! Human text, human written books, reviews written by real people, lived experiences and rich human discussions that videos cannot capture the same way, will always be irreplaceable and needed.

And as for SEO, it isnt dead but its just always transitioning.

How do you think i found BHW for the first time in my life?
Watching a reel or a video or typing my thoughts into a search engine?

Im no SEO expert, or any tyoe of expert...
But if you write genuine, rich, high quality text, wouldn't search engines and bots still need to find it.

This is a contradiction. As you said: AI just mixes/rehash what's already out there, and on top of that it assumes. It will never give an unique angle which some writers definitely will do. If you want specific angles you have to ask it with AI, while some people with a creative mind can give you their angle.

AI can do a lot, especially in text but also other formats, but I still prefer human made content, doesn't matter which format.

seo died in 2009 when do follow and no follow was introduced by google. flip burgers at local stall.

People fed AI with text. Now AI can answer with text. People fed AI with images and now AI can generate images. People are feeding AI with videos. AI will learn to create videos - not just short clips but movies and courses.

AI already started feeding humans with what they like the most - reels and shorts. We have blamed every technology for making people lazy and ignorant but nothing was as successful as AI.
