I'm following Chase for some months now on YouTube. And his thoughts about SEO changed drastically over the last few weeks.

In the beginning when I followed he was certain he made his ultimate SEO workflow. He showed many videos about his workflow and how to do his checklist to help his clients. He also used certain tools like Ahrefs etc.

But nowadays he comes up with videos like "SEO is bullshit" and "Don't pay for SEO tools". And he says that you need to focus on "authority hacking" instead of SEO.

I don't really know what to think about him now. At first I thought he was a great source for information. Nowadays I feel he just makes videos to make profit of people who want to make money online and is doing his best to spread misinformation to people who really want to learn something.

What do you think?

When everyone in a certain industry says the same thing, in order to be different, you have to come up with a new approach.

This new approach is basically the same thing, but with a new name, new "interpretation", new package, you name it.

Another example is Frank Kern (who is a great marketer, in my opinion).

But he took one of the most common, simple ways to sell on social media, which is the "inbound" method. A.k.a not spamming people all day with offers, but also provide some value to build trust.

And he renamed it, reframed it. He calls it "intent based branding" or something like that.

Which is pretty much the inbound marketing concept coined by Hubspot.

It's not a bad thing. It makes you look like a guru.

It also works because people are always looking for "the new thing in town".

It also works because people are always searching for shortcuts so when you come up with a NEW thing, it might seem as if people are missing out on something...

Just my 2 cents :)

I've been watching Chase too and I have been wondering about his new course too. I'd like to watch it but I'd kick myself if its just knowledge we basically already know.

I watched Chase until I saw through his ego and BS, about halfway through the first video. Watched Niel Patel and Ruan Marinho for a lot longer.

But in the end they all have the same thing in common, they are great marketers. I mean they are really great at marketing themselves and building a great personal brand. I have not purchased Ruan's or Chase's courses and never would, I just don't see them offering enough in their youtube videos that would make me shell out the cash.

I watch Rhuan and Neil too (Neil annoys me a bit though with his weird hand movements and crazy stare) but what Ive noticed is the majority of these "SEO" guru's all lean towards selling courses. It's the path of least resistance. Even I want to buy Chases's Authority hacking program but damn will I pay that much.

I don't know him, however there can be a 2 reasons:

- he received a strong slap from Google.
- he was bought

Cheers, Greg.
