So I got 1k subs and 4k hours of watch time. I tried to apply for monetization and I got rejected.. The reason that they gave me was "reused content" which means "Channel uses someone else's content without making changes that add significant value".

The rejection was absolutely nonsensical as all the videos on my channel are mine. I make gaming videos and in a significant portion of the videos you can see the player's name which is identical to my channel.. why would anyone else name their player/character after my channel?? I tried to appeal the decision and it got rejected.. see the attachment.

I did some google reasearch, I read a few subredits and I found out that a lot of previously monetized gaming channels got demonetized because of lack of narration/voiceover or actual person appearing in the video. These channels were purely gameplay - cutscene compilation channels that did not have human element. They were also given the same reason "reused content".

When you read why my channel was rejected (the screenshot) and why my appeal was rejected, there's no mention of lack of human element. They claim that they don't think that the videos are mine which is ridiculous given the fact that the player's name matches my channel's name, it has my watermark, etc.

I do not show my face. Maybe only about 10% of my videos have my narration/commentary. Other videos are purely MY gameplay videos, MY compilations and MY comparisons of different video games.

So what is the issue and how do I get monetized?

YouTube obviously is not gonna give a direct answer, they will just send schablone rejection emails.

Should I just delete ALL the videos and start from scratch? Talk non stop in every single video and throw in fancy editing elements every 5 seconds? As it seems that what YouTube wants.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? How can I fix this issue and get monetized?

Don't delete all your videos .May be you get an email, After some days that your channel approved for monetization .
If not try again for monetization
This would happens sometimes in gaming channels

Just speak/comment in the videos. You don't have to say anything meaningful: tell jokes, describe things, yell at your enemy...
Don't make very long videos 10 min is good with 50%+ commentary.
This way, not only you'll monetize your channel, but viewers will connect with you.

They usually review the videos with most views first, so keep the ones with commentary

@kukuruziuz you answered your own question

No need to delete videos make changes in new videos

gameplay videos must have commentary else its hard to pass manual reviews these days

For this reason many gamers started adding face cam

There have been large channels closed although they used their own content. Reason is because they just upload a gameplay without any camera or commentary. YouTube thinks this is "reused content", since you don't transform the video enough.

u need to show face + voice . YT is strict now days . just gameplay without any voice is difficult nowdays

I don't think you need to show face or voice, just add text commentary here and there and it should be enough to get monetized

10 minute is not long for gmain videos. Gaming related videos are of much longer duration.

That's not true at all, commentary is not a must-have.
I have a monetized gaming channel without any commentaries or showing my face.
Videos are all high quality posted at 4K60fps minimum 30 min long, never had an issue.

Do not delete your videos, that will harm your channel even more, is better if you continue working and improving with what you have until this moment, interact with your viewers, do some questions in the videos like comment below what weapong should I use during the all game any challange, eventhough that is so common but sometimes they provide automated response and might now be accurate keep your videos and make changs for the new ones.

Same happened to me, but I didn't delete any videos. I applied again and got my channel approved. Do it if all your channels are original.
