Hey,

Quick question, I have a site that I am working on and noticed the slugs of the URLs are really long and some irrelevant. The pages are in the top 100 but nowhere near first page, and there are 0 links.

Would it be ok to change the URL slug to 3-4 words? Do I need to delete/resubmit sitemap again to GSC?

I don't mind loosing rankings for a couple of weeks till it picks up all the URLs again.

What do you think?

If they pages aren't ranking and don't make any money, then go for it. However, really do make sure that you redirect the old URLs into new ones, especially if they are already indexed.

This plugins sets up the redirects automatically, when you change the URL, should save you some headaches - https://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/

Sweet! Cheers for that, will do the redirects.

If they are not ranking then go for it, redirect them to new url with 301 redirect and you will be good. Wordpress has plenty of plugins to add 301 like "redirection" plugin.
