Changing the Publish Date without Changing URL... Possible?

I want to change the publish date of my wordpress site page but the problem is that it will also change the permalink too because I am using the %year%/%month%/post-title format...

Is there any way to change the publish date while keeping the same old url?

you can change it in edit url option. You can see it under title of your page just edit it.
 
Also, WP will automatically 301 the old post url to the new one, so you're not at a complete loss if the url changes.

The last time I checked that.. it was before the latest wp update.. I have updated the wp last night.. Let me check..
 
You can try using 'change shortlinks' option under post title. If that doesn't work, try using redirection plugin for redirect it to new link.

After you change date and save the post, go back to edit post and edit slug. You will see the post url abover the title field, there is an Edit button. Click that, manually edit url, save and the update post. The url should change but the post date not.
 
A nice little plugin if you want total control over your permalinks "Custom Permalinks" (search repository). Really useful.
 
I was just reading about this the other day.

There is a thing where you don't "Change" the publish date, but you just "Update" the date. And then the search engine will display the updated date on the serps.

There was a code on the site i was reading about it, but i can't remember the site now. Sorry.

I just wanted to let you know about that so you can look into it. Instead of changing the publication date, just update the date with some sort of code or maybe there's a plugin or something, and then it will display the new updated date on the serps and i assume in the post body too.

Why aren't you using short pretty permalinks?
Have you found an advantage to naming posts using date?
 
Settings->Options->Permalinks->Costum Permalinks ->/%postname%/ -> Save!!!
Above has to change every single permalink in your site. Use at your own risk!

P.S I do this every time I create new site/project. I have never changed permalinks after adding content.

Update: So my problem was solved. What you should have to do is to go to your single post.php or which ever file has the php code which shows the publish date.. Remove that part which shows the publish date and replace it with:

Last Updated: <?php the_modified_time('F j, Y'); ?>

Good find. I know the theory that Google will see this as new or refreshed content, but I'm not sure if that means much. Can anyone think of a way of testing?
