Changing site pages that have been indexed

First, I hope this is posted in the appropriate section..

I have a MNS site that I purchased from a service here.. I bought it on an impulse and didn't really know what to do with it when I got it... I am trying to make things 'click' now (pun intended), and I am going back over the site to help it reach its full potential...

I plan to change the theme and structure.. but I started with looking at the content... While it is readable, it definitely needs some work.. My question is this: All of the pages have been indexed, as the site is over a year at this point, but I want to change the content on a few of the pages to make them make more sense and add more value to them...

One of the articles actually sits on the root of the site and targets my main KW. I wanted to move it to www.domain.com/KW instead of www.domain.com - should I refrain from this change? A couple of the posts have the KW/url (www.domain.com/best-KW2-idea) I would like to write new content for, and I have read it is best not to have multiple pages targeting the same KWs if they have similar content. Can I delete the existing page and use the KW/URL structure again?

Not sure if I'm properly assessing the situation, but it sounds similar to what I did with one of my sites. I had a lot of filler content that I had to re-write with better information, and I also wanted to change some of the URLs to better KWs. I never deleted anything, just re-named and moved things around until they looked the way I wanted them to.

I'm not an expert on this type of stuff so I can't say for sure, but it didn't seem to hurt me in the long run. Good luck!

O ok... that sounds pretty much like my situation.. Thing is, none of the pages are ranked (well main KW is 16 in yahoo according to SERPBooks - but is that really ranking lol) so I figured worse case I wouldn't be hurting any $$... The only thing I started thinking about was being penalized..

I want to modify the content on some pages.. change the content and url structure on others and didn't know if this is where redirects come into play or what I should do...

Thanks for the reply Swordude -- it's your fault I am in this situation anyway!! Lol jk.. Reading your journey made me want to give this domain a chance... it made me all of 3$ last year.. and I basically let it sit there after I got it.. It never ranked about 3-4 page for main KW, so I figure -- put in some work and see if I can get to at least 10$/day and scale from there...
