Changing my description effect my ranking?

I'm on page 2 for a 3 letter keyword we will say it is "Free iphone 5" and I want to start ranking for the next keyword "Free iphone 5 cases". If I just add the word cases to the title/description, will it effect what I am ranking for currently on just "Free iphone 5"?

I dont think will be a problem. You don't rank because you have the keyword in the description.

You should be fine, you still have the keyword in the description, it doesn't need to be an exact match

There is no problem for this keyword "Free iphone 5"...If you promote this keyword "Free iphone 5 cases" this is lomg tail keyword for that old KW so it no problem for your both KW..

As long as you keep your site with the target keyword,you'll be fine.Google normally does not get affected by the changing of the meta descriptions.
