Changing local phone number

Anyone ever done this?

Obviously I will have to find all of my citations and update to my new number, but I'm curious what I should expect. I just started showing up in the 7 pack, but my number isn't local. I just got a local number and want to use it specifically for my business.

I know all bets are probably off after tomorrow anyway, but I'm also in the process of switching from an html site to a wordpress site as well as updating my phone number all at the same time.

Curious how google will handle it.

It isn't a HUGE deal since 95% of my sales come from making outbound calls and references. But its nice to be on top.

This is why I use a tracking number that I can forward anywhere I need to in the future. I guess it's just a lesson learned.

Citation and NAP Consistency is very much essential for any local businesses. You can have your new local number added, but make sure to have the NAP Consistency. Now Google treats the same.

The point is to have a local number show up on my site so clients will be more likely to call me.

It is fine I'll just have to update all my NAP citations.
