Changing IG username.. will everything stay with the new name?

Hi all. Just curious about changing the username. If I change my IG handle, will tagged photo still be with the account? Previous name's tagged photos will show new or old name?

I'm pretty sure it will do, however maybe @BlackGrumps could advise on this.
 
Trying new usernames is actually a good thing. The tagged photos will be there under the old username.
 
so when I tap on the old name on old tagged photos, will the tag direct me to the new name account? or it's just dead tag with old name.
 
If people actually tagged you in the photo it triggered the algorithm so it selected your name. However, if someone tagged you in the description for example (manually), that will 90% sure be a dead link since that name is now available
 
I see.. thanks guys. Any strategy I should use for changing names? or anyone has experience in changing brand name. What should I be aware of specially?
 
Ask your followers for ideas about a new name in your insta story- then pick two ideas that you like and put them in a poll story asking your followers to vote :)

Be careful some people are autoclaiming high valuable names. I would advise you to use a swapping service if you bought the username or it haves a high value
 
Yeah tagged pictures will most likely be dead links. Make sure to tell all your followers your changing your name, that story poll idea for new username is a great strategy!

Well is the username that you want change too available or on a other account that you own? If the username that you want is available and not banned there is nothing to worry, but if the username that you want is on a other account that you own and it has a high value, I would suggest a swapping service since it's not safe too change the username by yourself. There could be an autoclaimer or a turbo targeting the username that you want. I don't really know if somebody on BHW offers these.

Make a post informing your followers and users that you have changed your username. You can try posting a pic or video in an interesting way, that might reach lot of users
