I have a client that is upset because a certain related search mentions an unfortunate business mistake they were involved in that was highly publicized. Is there any way to modify the Google related searches at the bottom of the google search results?

Not that I know of. You could attempt to use a bot and proxies and have the bot query a list of terms but, unless you put a lot of effort into the bot, the traffic will most likely be filtered out.

I would advise the client that >80% of people only look at the top 3 listings and paid ads. Therefore, the chance of someone doing that related search is very small.

Actually I came up with an idea, on the site I can include links that are actually to keyword searches, when people click on them it will show up like a search

I found this somewhere.

http://changegoogleautocomplete.com/fix-google-autosuggest-diy/

Wonder it works? Tried them same through a bot with zennoposter + reverseproxies automatically changing IP's every 10 minutes. Don't see any results though.

Can anyone suggest something here.

Thanks.
This thread is from 2011 and your post isn't relevant to the OP's question. Next time, just open a thread.

Anyway, if I recall correctly, I once saw someone mention that a webmaster managed to get Google to auto-suggest web users to visit their site when they searched for their competitor's website. They supposedly did this by searching for their competitor's brand name in Google and then searching for their own company immediately after. I'm unsure about the veracity of this story, but I'd imagine undoing this would would work the way the author of that article described it, albeit with a large number of unique searches.
