Change the Topic of the website

Hello, I have a website on a general topic, it has 3-4 thousand visits per day. Now I want to create a website on a more specialized topic. Will there be any problem if I convert the previous website to my new website? Since the domain name is suitable for the new topic. I will not change the links of previous articles. And only new articles will be published in the new topic.

there was an update in March that targets exactly what you want to do, so yeah, I think you're going to get penalized...

so what are you going to do with them if you intend to remove all non-related content? Those obsolete articles need to either be deleted or 301'd to relevant content (which you won't be having anymore).

Tricky situation you're in. I would say keep the site as it is if it's making you money and buy a new domain for the new (niche specific) project. It's no problem if you'll be competing against yourself

If you keep the original content and just add the new ones - there should not be a problem

If the domain name suits the new topic, converting the existing site can work. Gradually introduce the new content while keeping the old content live to avoid sudden traffic drops.

I've done something similar before, and it helped to use 301 redirects for any outdated or irrelevant pages to new, related content.

There shouldn't be a problem converting your current website to focus on the new specialized topic, especially since the domain name suits it. Keeping the existing links to previous articles intact is a good approach. This way, you won't lose the traffic and SEO benefits from your current content, while you start adding new content on the specialized topic.

Changing your website's focus is fine if the domain fits, so just keep the old stuff there while you add new articles about the new topic.
