How's it going guys? Long time lurker, but just registered as I really need some sound advice from vets when it comes to checks as I'm not well versed when it comes to dealing with them and the way to maneuver around situations

Here is my situation;

Person A, Bob, is sending person B, Josh a certified check from his bank. The funds are valid, the check is good, and Bob is a highly regarded member of his bank. Bob is sending Josh $6,000 via a certified cashier's check.

The issue is Josh does not have a current ID and unable to cash the certified check as he does not have ID, not one that isn't expired at least.

Will, person C, has a legitimate local bank account as well as state ID.

What is the current method that BHW vets would use to go about getting these funds cashed quickly and relatively painlessly? I understand that you can endorse the check over to Will, person C, however I have heard that this considers the check "third party" and hence renders many institutions from wanting to cash the check and thus not be interested in cashing the check to a third party.

Is this true? Could Will just sign the back of the check and mobile deposit it into his personal bank? Will a SAM check cashing machine accept the check? How about a check cashing institution?

Would it be good practice to attempt to cash the check at the senders bank account as they issued the check and will not raise as many red flags?

Help me out guys. I'm trying to figure out what direction to head towards. I'll have the check tomorrow and I just don't know the most sure fire way to cash the check.
refrain from telling me to have Josh get an ID. I'm asking how it's possible for Will, person C, to cash the check. The third party

thanks I appreciate it very much!

Go to the bank and ask them how can the cashier's check be encashed under the given scenario. Explain the same to the customer service representative in the bank and you'll get the correct information and solution (if any).

Does Josh have a bank that he frequents?

If so, they may allow him to sign the check over to whomever provided that he has an account with them & the expired ID with him.

He does not. He had a bank with citibank however they aren't local and allowed the account to be created online. There is no physical bank institution in the area Josh lives. Otherwise he banks with online banking services, ie) Lily, Oxygen , Chime, etc.

Will banks with W.F. and believes he can deposit the check into his bank account via ATM possibly.

I appreciate the responses and I agree with what's been said thus far.

Anyone care to shed light on any life experiences they've encountered trying to do something similar???

I still hardly understand the idea behind a certified check. I honestly dont understand how they hold literally any merit over simple personal checks if they're faked so much already it seems as though they don't take any presidence and don't offer any real benefit whatsoever to the receiver of the funds over a personal check. Am I correct in thinking this or am I missing something?

Thx again fellas
