Hey guys,

I didn't know where to post this but knowing how many BHW members are intelligent IT wise I decided to post it here.
Recently I built a new computer, but now I cannot access some of the sites I often visit. I can't see the problem, nothing has changed connection wise and the sites won't load on my ipod/android either..

For example :
thenewboston.com
vagex.com

I know the sites are all up but it simply won't even try to load it, if I refresh it, I instantly get an error page again..
"Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at www.vagex.com."

This goes for several other sites as well... I also checked the properties of my local area connection and it shows that ipv4 is connected
but ipv6 has no access, although it's enabled. Apparently that can't be the reason ( reading from tech forums ) but why does it suddenly not have access ?

Any help is appreciated.

Probably something to do with cache? Did you try a different browse? Maybe a ipconfig /flushdns could help?

Tried clearing browser cache, flushed dns and tried 3 different browsers. No luck.

I'm a big enough nerd that my first post here is, of course, tech support... fml...

Anyway:
I would do this first. Full powercycle on network equipment (modem, router/wifi and computer if needed).

Check if the sites resolve an IP address by pinging them ( start->run->cmd (enter) : (this opens command prompt on windows computer) :: Type ping websitenamedotcom (enter) : this should report back an IP address : If it doesn't, reboot your router. If it still doesn't work, visit hidemyass to visit the sites through proxy; see if those come up).

Possibly local DNS issues if that doesn't work. Might fix itself with time, might not (local ISP's sometimes cache results). If you continue to have some troubles, try taking the same devices and attempt to connect to those sites from an entirely different connection (steal your neighbor's wifi for a sec, see if that works)... If that DOES work.... well screw it, cancel your internet service, save a few bucks and surf on your neighbor's dime.

Good luck

Powercycle reset done, didn't help.
Pinged the sites, all packets received.
http://hidemyass.com/proxy/ made it work.
All my nearby wifis are protected.
It's probably worth mentioning that the sites don't load on my ipod/phone/laptop either..

Are you using a wifi router? Try connecting via the wire and see if the site loads. I had a similar problem long time ago, had to do with the MTU setting.

Other alternatives, try changing the DNS to Opendns and see if it helps. If all fails, checking with your ISP could help narrow down the problem

MTU setting ?
I'll try direct wire later today, if that works I'll just reset router to factory settings probably, although that's my last resort.
I'll also try DNS changing if nothing else helps..

Worked with directly modem and no router..
Reset router to factory settings, still the sites won't load..

Why oh why didn't I listen to you earlier.. Swapped router DNS to googles like it was on my old PC and voila, everything works.
Thanks.
