if you have zero experience with the industry, I would suggest to become an affiliate of an online casino first.
It involves much less upfront investment and less risk. You can earn commissions from the net loss of referred players.
Get to know the space and then you can level up using a casino white-label product - these can provide you with gaming licenses too, most have multiple choices in terms of jurisdiction.
As others mentioned previously, it's an extremely competitive niche, requires heavy investment if you want to have even the slightest chance of success. To create your own casino brand and launch it on your own, sorting your own licensing, game providers, bonus/cashier/customer service platform etc it's a massive task without previous knowledge of the industry. And I haven't even touched on marketing.

You read some forums from here, acquire some ideas, and decide if this is the path for you.
Then, if you like the idea, get started.
Once you've started, look into all you need to do to make your casino the best of the best. +Don't simply imitate someone.

You should have a license first to operate in the counrties you want to and then buy a license from a casino company to have the backend

There are many white label products out there. It all depends on how much you want to spend and what you want. There are also options to buy without a white label, but in general it is far more expensive. One popular platform for white labels or turnkey is Softswift, however from memory these are quite expensive, as in over 250k startup.

It's an intereting point of view. But is exaclty what you said "unless you know what you are doing".
IMO if your expertise is B2C and drive traffic through SEO, paid traffic, affiliates manager, your place is in an affiliate program. But if you have experience in B2B, own the casino can be the best option, because you can hire lots of Affiliates Networks and scale the whole operation, with better rates and profit %.
