From last few days i m testing follow back ratio for different kind of list of users.

For start i have created few lists based on these,

List 1 : List of followers of big accounts having more than 100000 followers.
List 2 : List of followers of small accounts having less than 100000 followers.

In last 10 days the follow back ratio from list 1 is less than 10% while the follow back ratio from list 2 is nearly 22-23%

I use 2 different accounts for both list and they are mirror of each other. Both accounts are exactly following 5000 users.

Just curious to know, whats your follow back ratio?

    Regards

Let me guess you followed followers of some big account or you scraped users from category page?

10-15% when I follow some1's followers. 25-35% when I follow my own followers' followers.

~10% range. I use to follow 200-300 when I'm working on an account. But I think that Pinterest is catching on to follow/followback method. So I'm tapering off.

initially I started just using category pages for followers, I did this for a long time until pin blaster implemented its blacklist and I realized it was only ever scraping the same 10,000 or so users. Since then I've been looking through my followers for people with over 1000-2000 followers and scraping and following those. This has allowed me to reach a lot of people I just wasn't finding through keywords or categories.

For example: with pin blasters black list on, I couldn't even find 1,000 people from a keyword or category anymore that I hadn't tried following before.. today I grabbed a follower I had with 60,000 followers and 44,000 of them were not in my blacklist

since moving to scraping the followers of my followers I'd say I'm in the 15-20% range for follow back, maybe a little higher.

I'm following big users with pin blaster, but the follow back rate is quite low 10%.

I started a brand new account as a test:
    -female American sounding account name
-Created 8 boards with around 200 pins total
    -started with 0 followers
    -no profile or picture
    -no links to my sites

scraped a user with 60k followers. After following 2132 people the new account has 572 followers

Is there a follow / unfollow daily limit on Pinterest, or a limit that if you follow more than X people inside Y minutes you're likely to have your account suspended/removed?

there's not a daily limit as far as i know, its definitely more a x inside y time. Right now I have pinblaster set to follow between 60-100 people then wait between an hour and 2 hours and i never hit any limits. Even with my brand new account which normally hits it's limit at a few hundred until it gains followers

So are accounts not banned - they just hit limits and are 'frozen' for X amount of time, until they can follow/unfollow again?

What about ratio caps like with Twitter's 2000 / 10%?

I'm sure you could be banned if you're just hammering the server and getting a "you've followed too many people" but it has only ever given me an error I've never had an account banned for following/unfollowing

There is some ratio cap, but I've only ever run into it on new accounts with less than 100 followers or so. I think the max you can ever follow at one time is 50,000.

Do you mean 50,000 is the most any account can follow, full stop?

50,000 is the most you can follow without unfollowing. If you then unfollowed 10,000 you could follow back up from 40,000 to 50,000

A bit off-topic, but as it's already gone that way, here are some of the 100% tested limits as far as I can tell you from personal experience:
-If you have less than 1000 followers and your followers:following ratio goes below ~5%, you get blocked until the % goes above ~5. It's not EXACTLY 5% and I don't know why it's like that, but it's very close to that number and you need to live with it. You can basically unfollow a few hundred and then follow somebody else again. I have not tested if there's this limit when you go above 1000 followers.
-If you have less than 1000 followers, you can't follow more than 70, or in some cases 100 profiles in an hour. So, you basically set your automation to 70 follows/hour until you hit 1000 followers.
-If you have more than 1000 followers, the limit is 300 follows/hour. I've heard some ppl getting capped at 150/hour, I don't know what the deal with that is, all my accounts up until thit very point had no trouble hitting 300 in an hour every day for the last 3-4 months. However, I rarely hit that number, just occassionally, because I have a custom automation in place that kind of limits itself below that number often times, so it's usually hovering somewhere between 200-250 follows/hour...
    - You can't follow more than 50 000 profiles per account. Once you hit that number, you need to unfollow some to follow more.

You can't really break these limits, you get a warning with a window every time that you're blocked and you just keep popping these windows if you keep trying and the conditions triggering the blocks are met each time.

So that would mean new accounts can only follow up to 1050 until the account starts getting followers? This 1050 cap then slowly increases?

    1000 + 5% = 1050

Nope, that means if you followed 600 profiles and only 30 followed you back (5%), you can't really follow any more profiles before a few more start following you or you unfollow a few hundreds. I tested this, it's consistent accross the board. I don't know if the ~5% block is possible for above 1000 followers, didn't test that...

You mixed % with ratio that's what threw me.

So if 1 person has to follow you for every 20 people you follow, there must be a different rule for new accounts, before this 5% comes into play, otherwise you'll never be able to follow anybody.

If you have nobody following you, then even following 2 people would mean a 0%. If you followed 25 people and 1 person followed you back, this would be a 4%.

Well yeah, but most of the time I already have a few organic followers that I get from just setting up my profile with different pins. I guess you CAN follow for a while with no followers, but you'll hit the block eventually.
