Update:
There were almost NO changes in ranking. Yup, right: No changes. Right now I am still in the process of adding articles. However, over the time it seems like things got worse (maybe because of the Google updates in March/February?).
If someone knows or has a strategy on how to recover algo penalized domains/websites I would be more than happy to give it a try.
Right now, I am in the process of thinking about whether I do a 301 redirect for algo penalized apps to a new domain to possibly recover the rankings.

try move all to subdomain first before change whole domain name.

Google are some real *****, because they don't officially penalize the domains/websites in the traditional way. No, they just give algo penalties, leaving the webmasters confused and questioning whether they can recover their domain/website or not. Its a really shady tactic by Google. At least should give any kind of notification.
So what did I do to finally recover the domains?
I used the Updraft WP plugin to make a backup of my penalized websites. Bought expired domains, installed Wordpress, installed the Updraft plugin on there and migrated the old websites to the new domain. Then I made a 301 wild card redirect from the algo penalized domain to the new website/exp. domain.
Result:
So yeah, if you receive an algo penalty, don't waste your time trying to recover it

Meaning you never actually recovered it since the pump growth(or 'recovery') might be due to the power of the expired domain on which the content is now built.

Previous rankings (before the sneaky algo penalty) came back. So its recovered in my opinion. How much influence the expired domain has? No idea. Mabye i will try it on a brand new domain soon.

I did try to revive my penalised domains in everyway possible and in a period of 1-2 years without any success. From that day I never try to revive them and just build new ones, way better in my opinion and less time consuming.

I have absolutely no clue. My website was ranking well and then one day all rankings went to page 5 and 6, where they were for 6+ months until I started this thread. Lets thank Google for being absolutely intransparent.

Well, getting new domains and redirecten them just took 1-2 hours

That's very interesting.
In a nutshell, one can bypass algo update by redirecting the domain. Would do this work on a new domain is freshly registered?
That is redirect the penalized domain to a brand new domain.

I tried this with fresh and expired domain. As soon as google finished calculating the 301 and backlinks, the algo penalty passes to the new domain. It's a matter of time.

Damn!
That's crazy. It's hard to escape penalties. What's even more annoying is Google not being transparent details of their penalties. No one knows what they were penalized for.

You are right, but this is not always the case. I have no clue how Google is calculating/determining this.
The domain I show in the screenshot ranks for 1 month already. One other domain got the algo penalty passed on. I will do more testing.

Nice journey. So basically working on algo penalized sites are just a waste of time and it's better to create a new site? Point noted OP
