Okay,

So I've been wanting to test out 301s but haven't had the time to get a project like this setup.

Now that I've got some free time, I've decided to test the effectiveness of 301s.

The keyword I'm trying to rank has a traffic of 14,500.

Here's the competition below. To me, it looks like a medium competition keyword.

Plan

Money site

My plan is to create unique content for the homepage and content for the 3 inner pages. I'll be using clickbank to monetize the site. No link building will be done on this site in order to test for the effectiveness of 301s.

Total spend: $32 for domain purchase and hosting. $18 for content.

301 sites
I've purchased 6 expired domains that I will be using for a 301.

These sites have a piece of my keyword within their URL. They also have good TF and on average, have around 100 backlinks on them already.

I'm going to host 5 of these 301 domains on different hosting. (the 6th site, I'm going to 301 directly)

I'm then going to add spun content with keyword related text on the homepage for each of these 5 sites.

After that, I'm going to drip-feed 300 contextual spam a day/per site, for around 30 days.

During day 15, while the spam is still dripfeeding, I'm going to 301 the sites every 7 days to the money site.

Total spend: $90 for expired domains. $10 for hosting ($1 hosting for 2 months). $100 for spam (Rather than buy spam from Fiverr, where most of the links are nofollow, I outsource my spam to someone I know that ranks parasites for a living)

Potential pitfalls
Should I buildsome backlinks in order to bulk up the link profile of the money site?

If I do build backlinks, what if it's the backlinks itself that ranks the money site instead of the 301s? How will I know?

Next?
If my money site ranks top 30, then I'm going to just send some pbn or sape links to move it onto page 1.

If my money site doesn't rank, I'm going to 301 it to my parasite and see what happens.

I expect this project to take around 2 months to complete and will be posting ranking updates... if I see any.

If anyone has done this type of stuff before, it would be great if you could chime in and offer some advice.

i always wanted to try 301 method same never had time , may be i am too lazy .. but i will follow your thread may be that will motivate me of making use of my time :D which i am wasting on silly things .. GOOD luck bro

Don't build any backlinks to it if you really want to find out how powerful 301s are. I don't think you will get the results you expect because 301s don't work like they used to. The method went mainstream and Google devalued it.

You can't 301 the money site to the parasite, so if it doesn't work you'll have no option but to wait and see whethet it will eventually rank. I 301ed a niche site to a weebly page and nothing happened. The niche site adopted the title of the weebly page but both of them were still indexed and the niche site's ranking remained constant.

Also, in GWT, you can only submit a change of address notification from domain to domain which leads me to believe that Google doesn't support TLD to subdomain/url redirects because they know a TLD cannot move to a subdomain or subpage. However, they support url or subdomain to TLD redirects.

Didn't realize this.

If my money site isn't ranking in 3 months, then I'm going to just double check to see if it works on parasites.

If it doesn't rank my parasite in 1 month, then I'm going to test it out on another money site.

This is a nice thread... but i would apreciate if someone would be nice to post or give me a thread here in BHW about what 301 is, what does mean 301 redirect and how to do it would be great. Thank you.

Hey Paul,

A 301 redirect is where you redirect a domain onto another domain to let Google know that's where your new site is. By doing a 301 redirect, all the links pointing to the original domain will hopefully be transferred to the new domain.

Well I did a small test with a brandnew domain which had fresh content and I spammed it to death with all sort of link atm I think in ahrefs is 193K baclinks, I slowly got to the spot of #40 on google, after that I purchased and expired PR3 domain, moved the site there and did a wildcard redirect to the PR3 domain and bam my site is ranking now from #13 - #30 on google for 55 Kws monthly searches are from 600 - 9600 medium competition. I'm still spamming my domain like crazy :)

I think will make some web 2.0's for the PR3 domain and spam them as well in hopes of achieving page 1 on google :)

The realistic scenario is a banhammer before I reach top 10 :)

Nice, how long did it take you to get to position #40?

And excuse me for my ignorance but what on earth is a banhammer?

It was two months of spamming I had issues in the begining with my vps and GSA setup i took me a month to figure it all out. With Gsa I Did about a 1 million of verified links and ahrefs is showing 193k as alot of the die fast.

Banhammer is the allmighty Google SLAP :)

Wow man, that's a ton of links. But if it's still ranking, there should be some hope.

This is awesome! Was just thinking about doing this myself to see whether 301s or PBNs are more powerful. Will be following this closely, good luck!

An inspiring thread, yeah do not build any links directly to the money site, lets just test the effectiveness of 301s.

That's exactly why I wanted to try this out.

Do PBNs rank sites better or do 301s.

I was initially going to just spam my money site and spam one 301 site, but this method seems safer to me.

nice thread. and yea, please dont doing anything other than the 301's at first - will be nice to see how effective that method still is.

I very much doubt you will rank a website with six 301's alone, 301's work great with other SEO methods, but not alone.

Yeah that's why I was wondering if I should maybe build other links.

Anyways, there's no way to know unless it's tested. If it's not ranking then I'll just build some links after the 2nd 301.
