Hey everyone and happy holidays.

Thought i'll share this piece of information with you because i believe its super valuable to know if you're building any type of affiliate website and especially amazon affiliate websites.

THIS ISN'T MENT TO BE A SUCCESS STORY, MORE OF A CASE STUDY THAT YOU CAN LEARN FROM. IN FACT ITS MY LEAST PROFITABLE WEBSITE, EVER ^_^ LOL , WELL CURRENTLY.

So I wanted to test a theory, since everyone is saying "content is king", and then build pbns and backlinks, I was thinking

"what if I can find low comp kw (not extremely low, ill explain), buy lengthy, good content and make sure its good, and not build a single link, will that make me money?"

Heres What I did :

1. Found keywords in a specific niche [enough for around 30 articles]
2. Bought content from a writer
3. Posted + edited all the content to the site.

Some more info about the keywords/articles:
* about half of them were information type keywords [how to]
* the other half was buyer keywords [ 10 best products reviewed]
* the content was good, but not a "stay at home mom writing about how she raised her babies" type of good... meaning the writer wasn't an expert in the field nor did she have any passion to the topic.

The domain was brand new, I built 0 links, just wanted to see if google will help me outrank other sites even tho they had more links, due to the fact that my content was lengthier and better.

Results -

so the first post was published at 2018/07/12.

On november 2018, I had my first month of commissions, about $30.
Its been pretty stable and boring since, so
Nov 2018 - Nov 2019 the avg monthly profit was $30.

In Nov 2019 the profit grew to $97
This Month [december] were at $150
You can see the graph below :

THE CONCLUSION / WHAT WE CAN LEARN FROM THIS CASE STUDY

OK so obviously the conclusion is that you CAN rank a website without doing any type of off page seo [no link building whatsoever], I also didn't share on social media or what not. Simply posted the articles ant let them age.

The keys to do that are :
1.Picking super low comp keywords [which I didn't in that case]
2.Buying / writing lengthy, good, content [min 1500 words, and some pillar posts with 3k-5k words]

I also DIDN'T update the website since posting all of the articles way back in 2018.

In hindsight the keywords I used WERE NOT good enough, meaning I picked keywords that are a little more difficult to rank for then what you should.

Im going to build 4-5 websites using that exact method since I don't wanna deal with backlinks for now, however this time im going to find super low competition keywords and have even more content and just let it sit and age... IMO they will all make money, and extremely passively.

Then down the road if you choose to, ofc you can add backlinks... its choice time :D

Hope that helped and let me know if anyone has questions, thought it would be useful to those of you who are looking to start or are already buidling amz aff sites.

Peace.

I am currently in the middle of an affiliate journey myself so this is perfect!

Thanks a lot for sharing!

Got a couple of questions, hope you don´t mind...
  • Do you use any SEO tool to conduct your keyword research process?
  • Do you follow any specific guidelines/blueprint/checklist when running a keyword competition/difficulty analysis?
  • How do you structure your articles? Do you add infographics? customized images? Do you care about the readability scores? Do you outsource this?
Cheers!

Shows how big a role time plays when it comes to seo. Great case study.

Great case study m8 !
I will follow to see how will it go with the other websites.
Thanks for sharing

Sounds very intriguing. Now my problem is how to find the low competitive keywords or what tools to use and find them.

Great share.

Do you use any tool for your keyword research and can you share some tips on the same to find best keywords... Is that the same what people use to say as KGR?

Exactly what I did. But i'm using expired/auction domain method to build my sites :D

That a fact, it can be done as you showed but only done if ppl study keyword research.

the problem is not many ppl understand keyword research especially nich picking .

well written .

happy xmas m8

ps.
try what you done with non paid tools as many seem to think ubbersugust is king lol

Seems like a really short time to turn a profit. Very informative, glad to see ya started seeing some income in only 4 months!

Nice case study.

I did the same with similar sites. Some did well and some did not. I couldn't find any rhyme or reason why some succeeded while others did not.

I think it has to do with how competitive the keywords you chose are... it must be the case otherwise it won't work regardless.

Yes I used KWFinder, but you can use any other kw tool.
No, i just used the KD [keyword difficulty] and would look at the top 3 results, if they dont have a great piece of content / a ton of links and the KD was good enough id go for it.
Outsourced, didn't really structure it other than some paragraphs and grammars, I did add some Images to the posts but not infographic or anything.

hope that helps :)

Thats a great comment, time does play a huge role in most online ventures I would say. Good point i forgot to mention it.

I wont update on the other sites here but maybe will open a journey thread in the future just to help ppl out or another case study... and you're welcome

Sounds very intriguing. Now my problem is how to find the low competitive keywords or what tools to use and find them.

Search for 'keyword research' in this forum theres plenty of info on it, basically if its amazon you want to pick a niche like " outdoors " and then go through amazon take product ideas and get a keyword research tool just start running queries like " best outdoors tents " or whatever ...

Great share.

Keyword finder, but i started using ahrefs i like it better.

Exactly what I did. But i'm using expired/auction domain method to build my sites :D

That could be even better and im trying it with a domain i just bought from SEDO. funny u said that :)

Yup, keyword research is key and even tho im good at it i still think i didn't pick great keywords. well not good enough i wouldve gotten better results if my keywords were better thats for sure. but I learned from it.

Seems like a really short time to turn a profit. Very informative, glad to see ya started seeing some income in only 4 months!

Thanks mate, and yea the profit here is redundant I was trying to figure things out and now will use this info to make real profit... I dont think this site is profitable yet, as I did pay for the content, but it is stable so at some point itll pay me the money back and more important it gave me a ton of great info that will help me make more money now.

Glad u guys liked this thread, I did it to encourage more people to share similar stuff, we all test and try stuff that has to do with making $$$ online a lot and can learn from each other if we all share this type of info im sure itll be very lucrative to all of us :)

Also remember to take action, even tho my keyword research WAS NOT perfect in this case the site still makes passive income and now will be steady on around $50-60 per month, maybe even more who knows :)

What is a good KD ratio in your opinion for this type of experiment or just building site without backlinks? On KWfinder and Ahrefs

Yes I think it will better than a new domain. Here is my result:

1. Domain: Auction at goddady with $45
2. Contents: only 3 articles: Best of XXX(1200/each).
3. Published date: 20days ago ( from 12/04/2019 to 12/24/2019)
4. Link building: Do nothing, just post and forget.

very very simple but still powerful impact and result and imagine seo and more input are involved

very nice case study , i think it will work well if someone have old expire domain .

I'm using an old expired domain, about 1 month ago. However, the situation is not satisfactory :(. most keywords do not appear like the image belowScreenshot_1.jpg

So just make a website and get traffic? Anybody here with experience knows these results if real are not typical in 2019. Maybe you got lucky, but building a shit site and not building a single link will not get any traffic or make $500.

The reason is because this is already what most noobs do. The easiest part of a site is choosing keywords, buying articles, and posting it. The hard part is finding and paying for good links. So if OPs results were typical, every noob here would be boasting about their earnings as sites like these can be cranked out for $25, even less if you write the articles yourself.

I'm not saying this is not possible, but the results are not typical at all. Most sites like this will get virtually no traffic and no clicks. Sorry, that's just the truth and anyone with a few years experience will tell you that.

Like I said, this is ALREADY what every noob does and it's why they come here and post why they get no traffic.
