Case study: ranking a 60k keyword

How much traffic you get now? I'll try a 50k exact match term in the next days
Just from that keyword I believe I'm getting about 20 uniques per day, which I guess is roughly right seeing as I'm floating between #8-#9.

although the page in question has had no previous work done at all.

Keyword is stable at #8 and I am getting between 40-50 uniques per day at that position
only looked at logs for 24 hours but I am also getting 18% CTR which is always nicesenty4love

When ur not selling site..only question u should ask is..can u maintain the ranking for couple of years?
If copitition is fierce and all top 5 sites are actively backlinking..its wise to get top 3 position and just sell it off and start working on the new one

This definitely isn't true. Type in a high comp phrase like "airline tickets" or "seo service" or "debt consolidation" and you won't see EMDs. These phrases are so competitive, with the sites big enough that they are brands, not EMDs, and don't need keywords in the domain.

Good point, il deal with that when I get to it, but based on results so far, position 1 is worth between $1k-$3k per month depending on CTR, so if I can get there I'd be happy to maintain the position

No, I do see EMDs. All the EMDs are taken for all three of these phrases. Case in point.
EMDs taken? Yes--->People targeting keyword, at least high_low to low_med comp
EMDs not on page 1? Yes --> at least med to high comp
What exactly about that method of determining competition doesn't work again?

Deadly Seo was the only service I had ever used on that page
since deadly Seo campaign finished, I have used 1k blog posts as well - I will link to the service later.

Cost so far is $350 or so. Earnings based on real data if I hit #1 would be between $1k-$3k per month (low end based on 4% CTR, high end based on the 18% I have actually been getting!!).

Can't you get something nice on your google site description? Could try something off the wall that will grab peoples attention?
