Parasites are the best way to get traffic when your main website is not ranking. I am in SEO niche and its tough competiion. And very hard to get my site on top. I have got some success wth ranking few keywords to top pages, but I still rely on parasits like, yahoo answers and tumbler to get targetted traffic. 
And I have noticed people who come to my website from Yahoo answers buy my services more than Search engine ones.

I'm thinking that he wanted to see if it could be done cheaply with fiverr gigs, and $20 is really nothing when it comes to testing.

I can't be bothered.
I purchased another fiverr gig titled 'Blast 250k links, beware may act as negative seo'.
It will be interesting to see what this does. I'm glad the yahoo.answers link is rel="nofollow"

Good luck OP! Keep us updated. I've got good success rate with low quality links bought from BHW. Not fiverr low quality type, but let's say BHW low quality for ~$30 per package. Some parasites are ranking #1 to this day...

I've tried fiverr and they totally suck. Almost all the links are nofollow and have a very low amount of referring IPs.
Something like 50,000 links (most of which are nofollow), and only 50 referring IPs.
What do you expect from paying only $5?
I'm trying out a new spam service and am seeing some results. I may post a case study in the future if it ranks well.

Also, don't give up! Simply change your methods. Maybe use another site? Another type of strategy for link building? A bunch of Australian PBN links would be perfect.
I've also tried this method. Last year it worked but now it seems that the factors are different. Some questions with no backlinks and non exact title are ranking better.
I'd better invest in more fiverr answer gigs and diversify parasites. Maybe spam backlinks wok for other sites but answers isn't getting much benefit from it.

Exactly this. They changed something several months ago and therefore it shows like direct traffic in GA, although it is from yahoo answers.
So rather check rankings to see if it was a dirty fail or not. (probably was anyway)

doing wrong case study (and cheap/low cost) disappoint many person. Parasites work great, only key is (find right parasite domain, then good links)

I recommend you buy a decent GSA blast from the marketplace or do it yourself and add in a few PBN or Sape links. It's the best way to rank parasites these days. At least in my experience.
