Note: My English isn't good. So don't cry about that.. (@Neon you are allowed to cry about it in the comments).

2 weeks ago I created a thread about a Instagram method. I received a lot of good feedback on it, so I created this thread. This thread is based on my own experience with native ads, MGID and CPA. If you have any questions left at the end, let me know. Please remember that I'm always here to help you, but give me some time to reply. Don't spam my PM or I will block you.

What is Native Advertising?

Native advertising is a form of paid media where the ad experience follows the natural form and function of the user experience in which it is placed. I'm sure that you have seen native ads before, down below some samples:

You can see that almost all the samples are related to the same niches:

- Dating
- Weight loss (pills)
- Money/Forex/Casino (earn easy/big money)

What's behind these ads?

I clicked on the "Nederland is verbaasd!" ad. They redirect me to this landingspage:

lppreview1.png

I will explain you a little bit more about this sample, because that's really important. You can see a preview above of the landingspage. It looks like a news website about investing in shares. They are trying to believe you, that it's a real news website. But of course it isn't.

menu1.png

1: They used a big "logo" here. Belegger nieuws = investor news. So people think it's a news website for investors.
2: The menu is fake. If you click on it, you will redirect directly to the offer.
3: It's a fake markttracker, it's just a image.
4: Huge <h1> headline. With the message: "I went millionaire on this way in one week. Everybody can become rich."

After that they telling you just a fake story. What they did etc. There are some images on the website, from the same person. He stays in the front of nice car, house etc. At the end there is a small guide and button. If you click on the button you redirect to a forex offer. If someone signed up and deposit something like 200$, they will earn +- 200$. The guide explains them what to do and how to deposit the money. You have to tell them what to do, since they don't have a brain.

It's important to remember that only people without a brain, believes in these native ads. So you need to play on their feelings. They have no brain, so you can let them think anything that you want.

You can download this landingspage here and check the virusscan here. I don't advice you to start with forex or any niche, where they have to deposit money.

What I did?

Before I started with my first campaign, I was doing some research on my competitors. They are also trying to promote their website and earn money with it. Split-testing is the most important thing for native ads. Your (clickbait)title + image are the only 2 things that people will see in the start. You have to make sure that your title + image are very interesting to see. People have to become curious, so they will click on your ad.

splittesting.png

This image will show you exactly why you have to setup different ads (I know it's a Facebook ad). They all have the same title + text, but the image is different on each ad. Now you can see why it's so important. You can get lower cost on each click, so your EPC will be higher.

splittestingwebsite.png

It works exactly the same for websites. Sample 1 has 22% conversion, sample 2 has 52 conversion. The ad is the same, only another landingspage. You will get more leads, that results in more money. More money = more profit.

My campaigns + setup:

I started with 100$ budget for my first test. I didn't had any experience so far with native ads, so I won't invest a lot. I created 15 ads in the start. So I invested 6,6$ in each ad. I used a different title, image and landingspage (I had 4 in total) for my 15 campaigns.

Offer: Casino sign up (NL - mobile/desktop)
Payout: $ 4,50
Traffic Channel: MGID - native ads
Country Targeted: Netherlands
Number of landing pages: 4
Number of ads: 15

I did research on my competitors and saw some pretty good samples. So I ripped their landingspages (saved a lot of time). Than I changed the text + images to my own. The fake story on my landingspage, was someone that worked at McDonald's and won more than 1 million with spins (in casino). At the end a button where they can get their own free spins (offer provided that, when people signed up).

My winning landingspage:

Header:

Bottom:

lpbottom.png

I created the red lines on the pictures. This is the bottom of the landingspage, start with: title, guide (information) and button.

Down below the button there is a small fake proof. It will give you a higher CVR, since people that already at the bottom are interested in it (otherwise they where already gone). So I created a small Facebook fake comment box. I can't add more images in this thread, so you can see the sample here.

You can download this landingspage here and and check the virusscan here.

My results

I can't show you the different MGID ads that I created for the casino campaign, since I removed that account (I requested it by myself) and started a new one. But I can show you some results from my last campaign, click here.

You can see the network earnings for that ad only, here.

I paid 0,15$ for each click at the end. You have to play with that number on MGID, since you can set it higher or lower. But 0,15$ gave me the best results so far, otherwise you have to wait very long for clicks.

Important notes:
  • Split test your ads (use different landingspages, images, titles etc.)
  • Start with a small budget on each ad
  • Don't expect big earnings in the start, you first have to learn native ads (before you make profit)
  • Be smart, found a good offer and start pushing
  • I have the best experience with MGID and Ligatus
Useful links:

All popular native ads networks:
Note: I have nothing to do with MGID or any other native ad network. I'm just a publisher that buy traffic on MGID.

Hello, thank you for your Case Study - i found it really interesting and have enjoyed reading it
I've been working with (adult) media buying before and have made good profits with it, it's just all about analyzing the numbers and data you are getting.

My experience is you have to make sure your "banner/ad" is relevant to your landingpage, if you are using a misleading title your visitors will leave and will not convert.

I've seen guys doing this (in my country as well) and I was always too busy with something else to go full path what exactly they are doing as I'm not that much into media buying. I've seen this seen exact setup going on for quite some time. So it has to work if it's still alive. :)

Thank you very much for making this guide. It indeed clears some things out of the way for me. ;)

There are generally 3 types of "native" ads. What you posted there is "recommended content" which is great, the other two are "Paid Inclusion" and "In-Feed".

Mgid traffic didnt work me, but outbrain got some really high quality traffic if you have good budget. Tons of good review about Taboola but i think they charge around $1500 for first deposit.

So ,these only work for offers?
You paid around $ 0.1 for each click ? How many clicks for you to get conversion?

I paid 0,15$ for each click. I needed yesterday 46 clicks for one lead. But that is everyday different.
Liked before even reading I see you're consistently dropping valuable info thanks @ZlatanTheGod
Of course, Zlatan created this thread.

@ZlatanTheGod Great case study. I would recommend using a tracker like voluum or funnel flux for your campaigns. You need to know the data for cutting widgets/placements and optimizing. This way you know which ads, and which widgets, are bringing quality traffic and conversions. Then you can raise your bid prices on the top converting stuff and cut the non-converting stuff.

Or you can also use UTM codes in your url's, and that will give you good info about what's working and what's not.
