I want to share a little case study of something I tested recently just to show how powerful Reddit is and why still everyone is sleeping on it. Nothing fancy, no bots, no mass spam, literally
just one comment that turned into $951 in affiliate commissions.
But this strategy can be
replicated across any niche, brand or service that you promote. Reddit virtually ranks for every and any keyword out there in the top 5 spots on Google!
Step 1: Finding Keywords & Relevant Threads
The first thing we need to do is to
find relevant keywords related to our niche. You can use ChatGPT for this or if you already know which ones to go after.
Types of keyword intents:
- Commercial: best vpn, best vpn for netflix, best vpn for china, etc. (Highest conversions)
- Informational: how to use a VPN, what is a VPN (lowest conversions, only good for brand awareness)
- Competitor Hijacking: Nordvpn review, Nordvpn alternatives, Surfshark review, Surfshark alternatives, etc.
Since I was doing affiliate marketing, I focused only on commercial intent keywords as the user is already looking for a product recommendation and ready to make a purchase. I just need to nudge them in the right direction by having my comments at the top of these threads.
- The keyword that I chose was 'Best VPN for China'

- Find the traffic of a thread using https://ahrefs.com/traffic-checker or if you have the paid version

Step 2: Writing the Comments
This is where most people mess up. They think it's so easy that they don't put any efforts into it and just start spamming on these threads using
AI-generated comments.
Here's what you need to do instead:
- DON'T use AI-gen comments
- Write them yourselves or use a content writer
- Analyze the top comments with the most upvotes and copy them in a spreadsheet and take inspiration (Super helpful)
- Looks like a genuine experience (not promotional at all)
- I added my website's article in the comment where I go over the top vpn options in China
- You can see I didn't directly add my affiliate link in the comment (always use an article or the secret sauce I mention below)
- Casually dropped my affiliate link as “what I personally use.”

Note: Someone sent 500+ upvotes to get the comment removed but it's still live and making commissions
Step 3: Posting the Comment & Adding Replies
One of the hardest parts about marketing on Reddit is posting these comments from old and high-karma accounts. Even if you buy them, your comments get removed or accounts suspended.
What I did:
- Posted the comment from our network of aged and active accounts
- Added positive replies to my comment to add credibility
- Started sending upvotes after 3 days in drip-feed upvotes of 2/day until I ranked my comment at the top (adding fast upvotes on an old thread triggers Reddit's filters)
The Results (Just from One Comment)

Secret Sauce: (for super low removal rate)
We've done more than 10,000+ comments on Reddit for ourselves and our clients and have come across a few solid strategies to avoid comment removals especially when you're doing affiliate marketing.
One such strategy is to use a Medium article as a bridge page in your comments.
- Medium is a highly authoritative and trusted website and almost impossible to ban the domain on Reddit (unless it is spammed to death lol)
- For some reason, sites like Medium have a very high comment stick rate than your average brand domain.
- For affiliate marketers, this is gold since you can just create an article on Medium and use that in your comments without directly adding the affiliate link
- Directly adding an affiliate link in your comments is a BIG NO. Reddit can easily sniff this out and remove your comments.

- SaaS
- eCommerce
- App promotion
- Local SEO
- Marketing agencies
- Crypto
