[CASE STUDY] Building an Authority Website Using 100% BHW Services

I'm looking for a decent SEO service on BHW too. The one I bought recently isn't that high-quality as it claimed to. So I'm waiting for your review.
Btw, good luck on your journey.

DIDN'T EXPECT A PART 2 TODAY, DID YOU?

HANDS-ON PART 2

Today was now going to be a massive push in terms of ancillary tools, miscellaneous tasks, blurb edits, and other things. I put some of my more time-intensive but lower quality projects on the back burner to put more focus in this site.

I started today by utilizing one of the suggestions in BassTrackerBoats? similar case study and add descriptions and rich text to all of my current site images attributed to an edited post. They basically consisted of slightly modified copy-pastes of the meta description of the associated post. Here is the page where it is discussed: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/my-journey-discussions/702805-authority-site-search-engine-optimization-case-study-2.html. And yes, I spent about an hour reading the entire thread and got a few good nuggets out of it.

My domain hadn?t been recognized by Majestic SEO?s site explorer at all. I checked this morning and it was finally generating information. As expected: External domains 1. this reminded me that I had a ?micro niche site? to finish overhauling and adding a backlink or two to. Still in Majestic, I went to the Webmaster Tools Verification page to verify the site was mine, and added the generated meta tag to my site to verify.

I wanted to churn through the remaining ten blurbs quickly, and I found that I was changing very, very little about the posts. So for the remaining ten blurbs, I did the following: Set keyword, edited meta description, edited title/URL if necessary, changed up headings, added description/caption to featured image, added social media links (two lines of words with three links) at the bottom of the post. I didn?t bother with adding any of the links to product reviews or other articles to them at the moment. I also got all ten articles to 100% green for Yoast SEO, which my OCPD appreciates. Is it perfect in my eyes? Hell no. It will never be.

I also tried to mix up the keywords instead of using the same one for every article. Eventually I?ll go back and do that again for all articles, spend time doing another run through of edits on the articles, but that will be a long time away, once I have everything set and ranking and making money. I want them to be at 95% for the time being. Too much time being spent editing, not enough time getting real work done. I?m sure most of you following along have been thinking ?Stop fucking editing and start getting to the meat of it!? So this is that.

At this point, I was looking at 23 solid, edited, SEO?ed, image-added posts. I still had to enhance the product reviews, the main product review page, and the home page, but I was satisfied with the effort. I checked the main blog page. I didn?t like it. It was a huge image with the title and the entire article beneath it. I?m not about that life. Give me a solid, well-aligned grid with excerpts any day. I went into the Newsman theme panel and changed the article display view to be a grid with a small image, title, and excerpt and checked out how it looked. I also took out the sidebar. I only saw ten recent articles, in rows of three, so there was one article just hanging out on the end. Good god no. I put the sidebar back. Much better, five rows of two.

I was curious as to the page speed, so I ran the home page through Google Pagespeed Insights. Desktop was 80/100, Mobile was 64/100, User Experience was 99/100. Shit. Gotta fix that later. Pingdom Tools Speed Test gave me a 92/100 though, stating "Your website is faster than 76% of all tested websites?. But that was from San Jose. I tried it from New York City. BOOM. 94/100, faster than 94% of all tested websites. Amsterdam gave me a 93/100. Nice. I?ll take it for now.

I checked the Google Webmaster Tools search console for the site. I had submitted a www and a non-www version on a few suggestions from people and articles. The non-www version contained crawl error information and search analytics, and the www version contained the sitemap. There were three crawl errors, from pages I had deleted. I marked the errors as fixed in the console. I also noted 39 URL?s submitted and 29 indexed. Alright.

PLANS

Tomorrow I do the following: Two product review enhancements and edits and work on social media automation through Hootsuite, plus obtaining more followers in Twitter. Wednesday is (hopefully) the final three product review enhancements and buying up my first SEO/linkbuilding service here on BHW. Thursday I edit the main product review page and home page to my desired specifications, and order some more content from various providers to use for drip feeding in over the next few months. Friday I will make sure everything is cleaned up properly, and then apply for AdSense.

HANDS-ON

I started out with social media growth, by going to the Twitter account and using http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5841118/follow-all-users-on-a-twitter-page to follow a bunch of accounts in my niche. I started with 950 following, and when the script was done running, I was at 1,181 following, so I followed another 231 accounts. Then I went to the Facebook fan page and re-started the ad campaign for likes, setting the budget at $10 a day for a week again. If it performs like the first, I'll be looking at close to 700 targeted US fans in the WAY overarching niche by this time next week.

I then popped into Hootsuite and added the Twitter and Facebook pages to a new tab on my Streams page through the Publisher page. In the Streams page, I added a panel for My Tweets and Scheduled Tweets, and My Posts and Scheduled posts for Facebook. Then, in Publisher under suggested, content sources, I set the two accounts and set three related topics. The program searched for news and articles related to the topics, found a bunch of good ones, and scheduled them every other day on both accounts until March 4th. About that time I should have some social media ready to bulk upload with links all to the site and elsewhere, but for now, I wanted the pages to appear active.

On a whim, I went to Reddit and checked if there was a subreddit for my exact keyword. If so I was going to steal it using the http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/social-networking-sites/801219-niche-goldmines-stealing-subreddits-making-your-own.html. There was not, so I created one. For the description, I put in a summarized first paragraph of the first article, and added a couple more words to cover what I needed to cover. I made the Sidebar one of the most comprehensive articles, cutting it down to where it didn't hit the 5,120 character sidebar limit. Then I hit create and it was there. Boom.

My targets were then set on completing the enhancements to two product reviews. The first one I had my eyes on started at 425 words. I made some serious line-by-line edits, added in a few more mentions of the product name, added in three product review quotes from Amazon reviews on the product, and an "Order Now" with an Amazon shortlink to the product. The final word count was 620, an increase of 195 words from the beginning. I then added thumbnails of the four images in the article context, and saved/published, and called that a win.

The second product review I had on my plate today was an article itself, unlike the first two I had done which were one article that I had split in two. Thusly, this product review started at 685 words, so would take a little longer to edit. I made some serious line-by-line edits, added in a few more mentions of the product name, added in three product review quotes from Amazon reviews on the product, and an "Order Now" with an Amazon shortlink to the product. The final word count was 898, an increase of 213 words from the beginning. I then added thumbnails of the four images in the article context, and saved/published, and called that a win as well.

How about that ranking increase? The past few weeks the site has been bouncing in and out of the first 12 pages, it has been one of the articles ranking. Today when I checked, it was the home page, so that's awesome news. Hopefully it will stay and rise, and isn't Google Dancing still.

My plan was to edit the remaining product reviews, but I have a ridiculously packed up day ahead of me, so instead I was going to hop right into purchasing SEO services. I want to do this one service at a time, as I don't want to mix and match links and such, and want a good base for reviewing when the time comes.

So, after checking out the thread for a few days, getting rave reviews from lightningblitz in a Jr. VIP thread, and offering a 40% off code, I'm going with rankspire's http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/seo-link-building/806635-serp-synergy-your-ultimate-ranking-machine-massive-results-free-reviews.html for my first SEO service. I went with the business level, which after the code was $118.20. The business level offers the following:

1 URL, 6 keywords (I only used two)

40 permanent private blog posts on TF 25+ domains, 20 permanent home page links on TF 20+ domains, 20 unique High PR Web 2.0's

5 audio sharing links, 25 CSS design gallery submissions, 5 image sharing links, 15 business listing links, 5 portfolio links, 15 document sharing links, 30 social profiles

50 Facebook shares and 250 Facebook likes, 300 Twitter tweets, 50 Google+ shares and 100 LinkedIn shares

300 high quality PBN links, 600 contextual Web 2.0 blog posts

I set the drip feed across two months since this site is only a little over a month old, put in my details, put in the 40% off code, and paid the man. Turnaround time is 15 to 20 business days (so three to four weeks). I posted a response in the thread, and before I could finish I already had a confirmation email from Rankspire.

And guess what? That's all I'm doing today!

PLANS

Tomorrow is the final three product review enhancements (for real). Friday I edit the main product review page and home page to my desired specifications, and order some more content from various providers to use for drip feeding in over the next few months. Monday I am applying for AdSense.

Stats are looking pretty good today compared to yesterday. Nothing is down except total revenue haha. Alright, time to rip through these remaining three product reviews.

First product review started at 673 words. I edited the words line by line, I changed up the headings, I added in three excerpts from positive reviews for the Amazon page for this item (In the $100 range), I formatted the excerpts correctly, I added in an ORDER NOW option with an affiliate link to the product, and I added the four images of the product I had downloaded before back into the mix. When it was all said and done, that product review had hit 945 words, an increase of 272 words from where it was before. Solid.

Second product review started at 622 words. I edited the words line by line, I changed up the headings, I added in three excerpts from positive reviews for the Amazon page for this item (In the $80 range), I formatted the excerpts correctly, I added in an ORDER NOW option with an affiliate link to the product, and I added the four images of the product I had downloaded before back into the mix. Same story as the first product review. When I was done, it had blossomed to 866 words, an increase of 244 words from the beginning. Cha-ching!

Third (and final!) product review started at 577 words. Just like the two before, I edited the words line by line, I changed up the headings, I added in three excerpts from positive reviews for the Amazon page for this item (In the $200 range), I formatted the excerpts correctly, I added in an ORDER NOW option with an affiliate link to the product, and I added the four images of the product I had downloaded before back into the mix. When it was all said and done (for real this time), that product review had hit 848 words, an increase of 271 words from where it was before. Awesome. That was it for articles and product reviews!

That's it for today.

PLANS

Tomorrow I edit the mail product review page and made a few adjustments to the home page. I will probably apply for AdSense tomorrow as well. Wish me luck! Worst case, if I don't get in, I'll find other income methods and re-apply later.

Hey mate, I have a great suggestion for you. Buy an interesting product that is cheap from your local market or ebay/aliexpress. Afterwards, make a giveaway to 10 people who like/share your post. Promote the post and hire somebody to share it to Facebook groups :)

P.S: Make this according to Facebook's terms of service :P

I have been following this from the start and really want to do the same - I am a newbie so don't expect to have a site anywhere near as good as Sherberts. But I want to have a go, even just to learn.

Placed an order with Andres1986.

Thanks again Sherbert Hoover.

One of the things included with Rankspire's SEO service was an audit of my site. I wasn't aware of this until I received the email last night. Good stuff. The audit found that my About and Blog pages had the same meta description as my home page, and that my category pages and author page didn't have a description at all. I went in and fixed that up first thing. In doing this, I realized that I never did the SEO, keyword, and meta information on the About page, so I went ahead and took care of that as well.

The audit found other issues relating to W3C validations, but that wasn't something I was going to worry about currently. Oh hey, just a side note, I'm page three in Yahoo results for my broad search term.

So the main Product Review page was over 1,000 words. That was due to the fact that 70% of that was actual data from the first two product reviews. The first 300 words was an intro. I took that intro, which was 301 words, and expanded it, editing line by line and adding links to the products in a similar fashion to the About page. It was 465 words when I was done.

And that was IT for the current content. Now I was going to make a few quick tweaks to the home page. Being the indecisive nick-picker I am, I deleted the sidebar that had the links to the product reviews, and changed the recent posts widget back to the 3 x 2 large image grid style I had it at earlier. I added a separator above the recent articles and put a heading on the site as well, centered, with about 30 words about the site itself.

Then I applied for AdSense. I had done this a year or so ago and was rejected, so all I had to do was change the URL of my main site. I got into the dashboard and received this message: "Your account is getting reviewed. Help us finish the review by setting up ads on your site."

The Newsmag theme has a super easy AdSense integration panel. I went into AdSense and made a responsive ad for the header (which had a dynamic ad space by default, awesome), and color and font matched it to the site itself. I added the code that came up to the Header Ad section and saved. Then I added another ad space for in-text to display after two paragraphs in the articles and be responsive as well, and a third ad section at the bottom of the article. Remember, all ads have the same font and color scheme as my site content. So everything should still be nice, clean, and non-intrusive, which is my goal.

That was it for now!

PLANS

I'm taking the weekend off. Monday I will be back at it. I'm going to make a spreadsheet of all the links in the first ten pages for my main keyword that have the option to post comments/links, and then I'm going to post insightful stuff. I'm also going to put some more effort into social media, order a few more articles from various sellers here on BHW, and another pack of 16 short articles from NatashaNixon to reserve for guest posting on other websites. I will continue from there as I see fit as well.
