I appreciate your offer! I've got some strong Fiverr credit in my bank as well. I'm trying to shy away from Fiverr for this case study and focus more on on-site providers.
UPDATE
This weekend was reserved for relaxing with my family. Of the service providers contacted/purchased Friday, the following progress has been made:
creativez (logo design): Bought the service Friday, assuming 3-5 day TAT did not include weekends. Received an email early this morning asking for more details. I responded, and asked for a new TAT estimate. Was told they will work hard to deliver initial drafts in 1-3 business days. Impressed thus far with customer service.
AquaticGamer (content): They responded first, I liked the samples, but had issues with their form regarding inputting keywords. Had a back and forth email conversation with Joe, and ended up sending the money ($20) via PayPal this morning. He stated that the turnaround time was about 24 hours. Solid.
kyescontent (content): I contacted Kye out of nowhere with the request via email. They are pretty busy at the current time. I sent an email with details seeing if they have an available time slot for a quick 1,000-word article.
Eternal1912 (content): Currently finishing up another large content project for me (5,000+ words), and then will be starting this one. Contacted and has responded, very quickly as always.

Got a random visitor from Pennsylvania Friday. First visitor to the site. Good stuff.
I downloaded eight stock photos relating to my niche, renamed the image files to something relevant, shrunk the images to 800px wide (which shrunk the file size from ~3MB each to 100-300KB each. Then I compressed them using an online JPEG compressor and took them to 35-70KB each, so legitimately 1% of the original size while maintaining visibility.
I uploaded the images to the site, and WP Smush automatically compressed them by a further 3-10% depending on the image. Then they received an alt tag. Then I deleted the footer, and kept the sub-footer. Again, I'm all about minimalism, and don't want widgets everywhere cluttering everything up.
I added a copyright to the bottom of the site and created a Footer Menu consisting of the Privacy Policy and Disclosure, and set that as the footer menu on the bottom right, opposite the copyright section. Then I deleted the default sidebars except for the search section. I'm a strong proponent of the bulldoze and rebuild methodology.
PLANS
Tomorrow I will develop the Privacy Policy and Disclosure pages, and one relevant image will go on each page, just because. I will also do more theme formatting while patiently waiting for content and logo completion.

Added a Home page, and set the Blog page as posts and the Home page as the front page. in the Reading settings. Then I added the Home page to the Header menu. I added a general few sentences to a Disclosure page for Amazon's affiliate program, and decided against having an image on that page. I will pretty it up at a later time.
I added and formatted a generic privacy policy, opting out of using an image again. I tweaked formatting and some wording to maintain a good score in Yoast SEO (obsessive compulsive personality disorder at it again). Literally everything was green-lighted except the Fleisch reading ease and lack of an image. Whatever.
It was time to put AquaticGamer's blog post to use. I added a new post, set the title to the title specified in the 1,000 word post, and pasted the text in as plain text. I formatted the sections myself, setting H3 headings and spacing paragraphs a little differently. Then I added one of the images I had optimized yesterday to the post. I set a solid meta description, and set the title to contain the focus keywords at the beginning. I was green-lit on everything (even Fleisch with an 80.1) except outbound links and "The focus keyword doesn't appear in the first paragraph of the copy. Make sure the topic is clear immediately." Whatever, Yoast just has trouble reading text from the Newsmag theme apparently, as the keyword appears twice in the first paragraph.
I'm not a huge fan of categories and tags, so I set both to be just the keywords I am trying to rank for. I will be setting some outbound links up and a couple affiliate links and ad blocks at a later date. For now I'm focusing on getting content on the site. I may go back and revise the article at some point as well. For now, though, it's good as-is.

There was a view count and share buttons between the post title and post itself, the featured image looked wonderful, and it looked great in-text as well. I am going to look for someone to write some seriously good home page copy. Probably someone charging like $5 per 100 words. Going for a solid 1,000+ words again for that. I'm going to fire up KnowEm and see if I can find a variation of my sub niche to use for social networking purposes that isn't taken everywhere. Once I find a good username, I'll shoot over to Andrew Scherer or someone to create some social media accounts.
I am also still looking for two additional content writers who are exceptional English speakers/writers for 1,000 word articles. Once I've got five articles and a home page posted (so 6K words of relevant content), I'm going to start up some SEO-related work.

Yoast SEO and the Newsmag theme both needed an update, so I took care of that first thing. Gotta stay fresh. I then realized that I needed to activate the theme, which consisted of going into my Envato account (Themeforest), downloading the license file, copying the purchase key, and pasting into a box. Done. I then changed the meta description to a custom-worded one for the About, Contact, Blog, Home, and Disclosure pages, as they were showing some crap with code. I didn't like that.
I went into the Template Settings for Newsmag and changed the Blog and posts template to a small image with title and quick excerpt, based on a change I mentioned yesterday wanting to make. Refreshed the blog page, and boom, it looked wonderful.
Then, under Post settings, I made a few more tweaks. I set the featured image to be hidden in the post view (it was duplicated before). I also disabled the categories tags in posts (since they would all be the same). I also disabled tag viewing and next and previous posting. I hid the like and tweet option on the top and bottom social sections. Not about that clutter life.
I checked Pagespeed Insights on the blog post and got 81/100 for Desktop, 67/100 for Mobile, and 99/100 for User Experience. Pingdom gave the site an 88/100. Not impressed with the Pagespeed Insights numbers. Going to have to see what I can do to amp that up.
But 24 requests (says Pingdom) and a load time under one second, and a page speed of 370kB, that's pretty efficient. "Your website is faster than 94% of all tested websites". Awesome.

I am going to do absolutely nothing on this site until Monday morning (December 28th). By that time I should have a couple articles and the logo all set. At that point, I hit the ground running.

I made two copies of the PNG version of the logo I received from creativez. One became a large Retina logo, the other a regular size logo. The regular logo was 22kb, and the retina was 56kb. I popped them into an online PNG compressor and the size went to 14kb and 6kb. Score. I uploaded them into the correct spots and set an alt and title attribute matching the site title. Then I set the regular and retina logos for the mobile version of the website as well.
I noticed that the logo looked awful on the dark menu background, so I experimented with some other header options, eventually settling for a topbar menu and the logo underneath with a currently-blank ad block beside it. Then it was time to put faithjhung's blog post to use.

At this point, I figured it may be a good idea to get some work done on the structure of the website. I added a Recent Posts widget to the sidebar. I then added a home page generic template to the home page, saved and refreshed. Holy crap, that changed a lot, and caused a lot of changes to need to be made! There was a trending news ticker. I trashed that immediately. There was also an empty grid setup. Trashed that as well. I trashed most of the other sections until I was left with a recent post section on the left with images and excerpts, and an ad box and popular video on the right side. I then trashed the ad box and popular video, which made me realize I needed a video intro to spread across social media.
I then added a Contact Us page template from the Wordpress Visual Composer widget template library. It looked nice. I replaced the Lorem Ipsum placeholder text area with 150+ words of my own writing. Then I changed the contact text, adding in a throwaway address, a Google Voice number, a fake fax number (because who uses faxes anymore?), and an email address. A mini-disclosure went underneath. This was all on the left side under the general contact text. On the right side was a quick, mini About Us with one of those optimized images.
I ran Pingdom on several pages: The home page got an 85/100, as for some reason the server response time was 1.25 seconds. The contact page got an 85/100 as well. The blog rocked an 83/100. These needed work.

Continued work on the overall website. I think I will go through one of the articles tomorrow and fix any errors I see. I will also be searching for more photos to add to my bank for future articles. Tomorrow I am going to hand make some social media profiles as well.

I was green-lit on everything (Fleisch was a solid 66.0) except outbound links and the fact that I had used the focus keyword before.
I set the same image as the featured image, published the page, and then created two new pages, splitting the already-present two reviews into their own review pages. I did some tweaking to the text and set some headings and things to bring Yoast to a green light wherever possible, set two more of those wonderful optimized images into the pages, and published.
With all the pages, I could get the menu structure down. I edited the main menu to add the Reviews page, and added the two current reviews as sub-pages of the Reviews. Then I added links in the headings of the Reviews page to each of the two products, and links to the respective Amazon items in both the main Reviews page and their own product Review pages.
I added a post grid to the home page on the pseudo-sidebar. and tested out the different grid element designs, adding the two product pages to the grid by utilizing the page-name filter. I spent way too much time trying different options on this, and ended up going with the default. Nice and simple. In my research, I found Block 2 to look much better than Block 1 for latest posts, so I replaced it. At this point, I realized that I had change literally everything about the default home page filler that was added yesterday.
I removed the Latest Posts title from the home page for better alignment between the main section and the sidebar. And at that point, I had a lot more to do on other projects, so I called it a day.
PLANS
My plans from yesterday for today were put on the back burner (article fixing, photo grabbing, social media). That will be tomorrow's goal.

Jared255 (home page content): I have not yet heard back from Jared regarding content. It may be on my end, not filling the contact form out properly on his website, and failing to post a message on his thread or PM him. He may be too busy. Regardless, I don't wish to bother him, and I think the home page is going to be a little more split up than anticipated, so I will be doing that on my own.
STATISTICS
Four visits yesterday, doubling my grand total. Heh. Did a quick Google for my specific keyword I'm looking to rank for. I haven't seen my site in the first forty pages still.
