[CASE STUDY] Building A Sales Funnel

Hey BHW,

I have been looking at some YouTube videos from Vick Strizheus about his traffic formula and sales funnels programmes and like some of the concepts. I like being able to create a sales funnel which you send traffic to (paid) and spits out a positive ROI. This is what I am going to try to do.

Niche

I am going to promote a Clickbank product in the health niche. The product has a gravity just below 100 and I know it converts as it has netted me around $1k of commissions through a video on YouTube (2 years) which is a guy giving a review of the product (actually shows them the product, what you get etc.).

Sales Funnel

My funnel starts with getting traffic to click through to my free video which shows them how to get rid of a certain pain in my niche. This video provides value as it's instant solution to their pain which they can implement in the next 10 minutes from watching the video. I ripped the video from YouTube and edited it in Windows live Movie Maker.

At the end of the video the visitor is enticed to watch a "BONUS VIDEO" below on how to cure the root cause of the pain. This video is the one I mentioned earlier of the guy giving a product review of the Clickbank product. Underneath this video is my affiliate link to the Clickbank product.

Why I Like This Sales Funnel

This beats the traditional linking straight to the Clickbank product page. I like that it builds an instant solution (free value) from the 1st video which in theory will start to build trust and watch the second video of the review. Once they clicked on the affiliate link they have gone through 3 action steps:

1) Watched video 1
2) Watched video 2
3) Clicked the affiliate link

By this point when they reach the Clickbank product's sales page I would like to think that they are already a hot lead, well that's the theory anyway.

Traffic

I am starting with Buysellads banner ads before going into Facebook, Google and Bing ads. I found a health blog (circa 151k impressions per 30 days) which is quite broad however has a section about my niche. I ordered 125x125 banner ad (which I made using Paint) for $49. I am not fussed about the click through rate (CTR) at this stage I just want to get some traffic to the funnal and see how it performs.

Tracking

I will be tracking the following:

1. Money invested
2. CTR
3. CPC
4. Affiliate clicks
5. Order form clicks
6. Sales
7. Profit/loss

Next Steps

Everything is ready for launch...my banner ad is pending approval and should be live tomorrow. I will update you on the stats when they come through.

Hey man, nice journey thread!

Going through 2 videos is a nice way to increase microcomittment. The higher the microcomittment is, the higher your chances are to generate a sale.

However, I would totally go for email opt-in after the first video before the second video. This way you can get back to the traffic that bounces multiple times. If this is a problem niche, you can always come up with advice in a 7-day email series or something similar. This is something you have much more control over, so you can see what converts better and what doesn't

Thanks for the advice. Yes it is my plan to implement an an optin form at some point. I wanted to get something out quickly just to test the funnel

Yes, this is a correct way to go on a budget. Test the funnel and if it works, definitely go for an optin.

If your budget allows you to, you might want to split test the videos and see what kind of CTA button brings more traffic to video 2, and different kind of CTAs for the affiliate link.

it's very simple to do actually. Upload the first video twice with different CTAs for the second video. Then also upload the 2nd video twice with 2 different CTAs for the affiliate link. (For example you might want to put some big arrows pointing down to the affiliate link.

Really good advice - I will certainly incorporate it after the first test is complete.

Thanks for the comments guys really appreciate the support.

I got the banner ad approved and it's now live. I did a test click to check everything is working OK.

Here are the stats so far (excluding my click)

1. Money invested - $49
2. CTR - 0.06% 5 clicks from 8,986 impressions
3. CPC - $9.80
4. Affiliate clicks - 0
5. Order form clicks - 0
6. Sales - 0
7. Profit/loss - ($49)

Still early days though lol!

I'm going to be following this, did you build your sales page on wordpress?

This is a quite low CTR. What kind of targeting are you using?

There is only one ad! The add is a 125x125 on a side bar of a blog. There are like 6 other same size banner. I am looking into google/bing/Facebook ads

If I understood your question, my niche is a sub section in the health niche. However, there was no sites on bsa.com which specifically related to my niche, so I went for a broader health site which has a section about my niche.

Yes I used Wordpress and Otimize Press to create the pages.

Not getting the amount of clicks I like! Can you upload more than one creative on the same site? Also not seen one click to the affiliate link - however my view is that 10 clicks is not a big enough sample.

I will be sharing my page design shortly and my proposed tweaks.

I thought it would be good to share my funnel as it stands today. I have already got some good advice here and will be tweaking for the next set of traffic.

Youre doing a big mistake for not getting their email first.
Get their email,then redirect them to the offer.This way you can send them again later.
