I'm basically wanting to start a bit of a "Bing / Yahoo" chat.

No one seems to be bothered with the Search Alliance but I've had some pretty good results from Bing and even more so now Yahoo is art of it too.

You just have to know exactly what demographics and search keywords you're after.

Sure, the traffic is much lower than Google but the conversions are much higher.

Anyone else noticed Bing / Yahoo is traffic is older / more affluent?

Anyone else optimise some of their campaigns for Bing / Yahoo traffic only and get results?

I don't think BING+Yahoo will be able to outperform Google in this case study.

PPC on bing is very nice. Tested it and loved it. They just didnt like my product :/
 
I'm seeing more Bing traffic all the time. It takes some time to get into the top ranks in Bing, but the traffic converts a little better for me. Not tried bing PPC yet, but adwords is pissing me off right now.

Exactly :)

Bing won't work in all niches, damn there's not that many it will work in.

When you find that good niche though it's perfect, cheap traffic that converts better than anything Google will throw at you.

The trick is finding portions of people that use Bing en-mass and then looking for products and services you can push on them.

Actually EMD and PMD on its own rank in top 10 in yahoo for low traffic keyword. With just one or just few articles.

However I do not see any traffic, for example #5 for a 2K term is giving me I think less than one visit per day. I guess the same position in google would give me around 10 visits per day thought I am not sure since I am not ranked that high.
 
which spam work best for yahoo/bing? any guide to rank high in yahoo/bing?
 
EMD/PMD are important, any links should work including the ones working for ranking in google.
 
I find it easier to rank in Bing/Yahoo and I agree that the conversions can be better even with low traffic, but boy! it's hard to get high volume from them.
 
You have to understand who uses Bing to get the most value from it: people who never move off of Internet Explorer and their default settings on the computer out of the box. This means old people, women who are not tech savvy, etc. Studies have shown Yahoo/Bing users are more women and can be more affluent b/c they're older.

When it comes to technology he's one of the smartest people I know. He knows how to program in virtually every language that exists. And I know that him, his best friend Jerry, and his brother n law all use bing.

All 3 of them are very smart, tech savvy guys. I even asked him one day "why the hell do you use bing", and I don't remember what he said but I remember it was a witty reply.

As far as old women go, I think that's bs. I remember specifically back when Google was launched, all the senior citizens were using it cause if its simple UI. Google became famous because they stripped everything down to the basics, making it easier for the tech illiterate to use the web. So if anything, you should find a lot more older women on Google.

He is probably just lazy and doesn't care that much to download another browser and change the default search engine. You can't use anecdotes and pretend that it can be used as an assumption for the larger population.

I don't know of anyone that can stand IE or Bing, let alone use them on a daily basis.
 
Can't speak to the current state of affairs regarding yahoo/bing, but back when yahoo was still using their own search engine, I had some interesting results. I had a site that was getting maybe 4k/day traffic from google. Then I made a bunch of changes and shortly after that I lost most of that traffic. But, yahoo was suddenly ranking it a lot higher. I then noticed that I was making far more money with a lot less traffic than I was with google. So I can certainly see where the OP is coming from.

exactly - IE is the default browser on new machines and bing is the default search provider, so maybe not the best for tech savvy niches but an ever growing percentage for some niches (like mine :))
 
The Bing search engine still can be used for making money online.
 
Most of my income still comes from Bing/Yahoo when compared to Google =)
 
If only MS would get their act together, they have all the resources to overtake G.

Yes but Google have all the resources to kill of any campaign.

I don't think Google can be stopped now - we passed the point of late adopter take-up years ago.
