[Case Study] 40 Sales Letters (Webdesign)

I would recommend waiting before sending the remaining batch so you can tweak your copy a bit if necessary as you may have made some significant mistake and it could harm your campaign.

Any update on what happened? I'm about to run a similar compaign here in my city. Great if we can get the latest scoop!

Hey, good luck! Unfortunately I hadnt been successful with this campaign. I've moved to SEO completely since I have had much better results with it so far. Didn't update this thread because there was not much interest either. Wish you the best.

I intend to experiment with this kind of offline business but with prices starting from $300. My country is a very good market for this business, as most medium and large scale firms are yet to have a website, even as they are beginning to realize the importance of one. I was making some research on this when I found this thread

I just want to say something about this. Since you are talking about prices.

I live in a EU country in which the minimum wage is like 200-220$. No kidding. The average wage is about 400-500$. So a person I know recently purchased a online cart site from a reputable company in my country, specialized in offering such sites. They charged him 3000-3500$ for an average design and some custom features on the web site.

And he gladly paid them, if he is speaking the truth. Now don't get me wrong - he knows he can site build for him from someone for 200$. Or for 400-700$. He have many sites, maybe a half dozen or even a dozen, I have no idea. But he is dominating his local market. However - the idea is - this guys pays more, because he thinks he receives better quality sites and better maintenance afterwards. And he knows he could have online shop site created for him for 200$, for 400-700$ and such. But he prefers to pay 3 000- 3 500$ because he thinks he is getting more that way, both in site`s quality and in long-term maintenance.

And this is in country with average wage of 400-500$. In US the average wage I think is about 2000-3000$. So yes - you can charge more money and still find clients.

You just should be aware of what types of clients do you want.

Best regards,
Axeny

Why are you writing letters, when u can be 100% more effective via email, and you can target many more in one hit. Just bcc all the company emails.

So because I think that offline marketing looks like a very good way to earn some bigger $$$ I decided to give it a try. I registered a new domain, created an eye-catching webdesign, uploaded contact form, order form, etc.

By the beginning of next week I will be sending at least 10 sales letters to local businesses and offering a cheap new webdesign. During the week I will send 30 more. Actually, it's copy of http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/offline-marketing/467598-killed-7500-3-days-exact-method-z-so-simple-duplicate.html but with my own twists.

Basically I've found loads of disgusting, distasteful, repulsive and nasty (I don't know the best word in English so I am using more of them) websites with addresses of the business owners. I made a printscreen of the website, got it into PC monitor PSD template and then I made a draft of better one and got it into this template too (see picture of template below). Wrote some basic info about the service and available discounts, etc etc etc

I will be charging $50 (minimum) up to $180 + some upsells.

We will see how it's going. I will be updating often.

Expenses so far:
$10 domain
$1 hosting / 1st month
$2.50 envelopes
$13.50 total

Wish me luck! ;)
