So I've noticed that mods have to put up with a bunch of spam during this time.

Do you guys think that putting a captcha on Newbies is the most efficient way to get rid of the typical spam around these hours?

What other method do you think would be more efficient?

Alternatively, one or more of these:
  • Set posts to require manual approval if a) users have below N posts or b) the post's title/body matches a REGEX for a phone number
  • Set a delay between posts. Ex: New users can post up to 5 threads per hour with a delay of 5 minutes before starting a new thread.

all been tried and makes more mess with more spammers

the mods sort it out

We all know captcha doesn't stop spammers.

Some type of restriction on posting to certain parts of the forum would be better, imo.

It would be interesting if users below N posts could only post every "x" amount of time.
And also if "the post's title/body matches a REGEX for a phone number" the attempt to create a thread gets denied.

It's worth considering some of the suggestions people have made regarding the prevention of spamming on the forum. Ultimately, it's up to the admins to decide on whether it would work, after they have considered any new issues that could arise with new restrictions.
